A reliable grade A, top 10 slugger is far more valuable than an aging closer whose arm might blow next week or who might lose 10 mph off his fastball next spring.Rumor has it Jays wanna trade for Papelborn. I'd be very happy with trading Encarnacion for a closer instead of a starting pitcher. In fact a closer might be more of a priority than a starter right now. My only concern is he's 34 yrs old.
BTW, have you noticed how averages for power hitters have dropped all around the league? Maybe it's the shift, but Ortis is hitting about the same level as EE. Chris Davis about the same. And there are Astro sluggers who are around the .200 mark.
