Reminds me a bit of the '85 season. Although the Jays set a franchise record 99 wins it was late in the season before they clinched over the Yankees who won, I Think, 97 games. I'm not saying we'll get 99 wins, just that it was a close race that year. Hopefully we'll do better against the Royals, too.
You are correct, sir.
To match the '85 club's record (Blue Jays best regular season number, btw), this year's team would have to finish 20-3.

Stroman might be brilliant or he might struggle....if he struggles it was an underdog game to begin with.
Sounds good to me. Reminds me of the time when the Yanks started Andy Pettite, instead of A.J. Burnett, against Cliff Lee. Of course, Pettite lost.

BJ's and Yanks no longer the closest race in the AL. Texas within a game of Houston for the AL West.

I still remember Toronto Sun front page headline to this day:

"Doyle Alexander puts final nail into Yankee coffin"

About time Gibbons yanked Hutch. Game is quickly getting out of hand.
Hutch was just not meant to pitch on the road. Shame Toronto couldn't do anything with the bases loaded in the 3rd when they had the Sox starter on the ropes.

Still lots of Innings to get back into it I guess.
Bautista just left another 2 on.

The players look really angry. I think Hutch is going to have to be benched. This is two straight starts he's imploded. They have to try Tepera, Schultz, anyone. They can't keep sending Hutch out there. Price and Bautista are going to go ballistic in the club house. It's one thing Hutch screwing up in a nothing game. In the middle of a tense, tight pennant race, it's totally different.

I don't get it with Hutch. Is it pitch selection? Concentration?

On a slightly positive note, O's and Yanks are 3-3 in the 8th.

why is Delabar pitching? Now 9-1, gives up 3 runs, 4 hits and 2 walks, only one out recorded. Seems like the recent call ups have disrupted in the original team chemistry.

I agree. Loup and Delabar were inconsistant and thats why they got sent down. Cecil seemed to improve and I got more confortable seeing him pitch. The best part of today is that the Yankees look like they are gonna lose too. O's leading 5-3. This isn't the way to go when they have a 4 game series with the yankess.
*Rubs Temples* With all the arms Toronto has added, I'd really like to see them avoid using Loup or Delabar. Cecil I used to ride too, but he at least has shown some more stability and better control after Osuna took on the closer role. Maybe pressure was taken off Cecil?

Prediction : 2016 AL champion -- Boston Red Sox(if they keep the current manager).

This series is a disgrace, they shouldn't be manhandled like this by a sub-.500 team in the heat of a pennant race.

Yanks lose again. That's two straight to O's. Boy, am I glad I wished my Delaware buddy good luck for the O's and Chris Davis on Sunday. Davis came up trumps for the Jays in the 9th two consecutive nights!

Wow!

That's 3 implosions in the past 6 games... they must really be feeling the pressure, which is really not surprising.

This is where we find out if they have what it takes: toe to toe with the Yanks.

And, win or lose - of course I prefer to see them win! - this is great, nail biting baseball!

At least the guys that count in the bullpen will be rested for NY as team scrub (Loup, Delabar, Francis, Tepera....etc) mops it up.

Well, two of those disasters are Hutchinson. And the other one is Buehrle with arm problems - which no one on the Jays is admitting are arm problems.

Yanks must be frustrated too. They've been trying for 2 weeks to catch us and now they blow a lead to the O's at the very time they could have cut into our lead.

I think Price will right the ship tomorrow...he is a bona fide ace.....but if they lose somehow, they are in a lot of trouble with the remaining pitching matchups. \and this is where a good manager makes a difference......get them going again (they were a little lucky last night after going 0 for 13 with risp)
