LMFAO.shack said:A scary thought, Vernon Wells may still be the team RBI leader when he comes back in 4-6 weeks.
I hadn't realized Alex was that close. Wells was still in the lead when he came back from his wrist injury and I was thinking the same thing might happen.lawyerman said:LMFAO.
That would be absolutely awful if Rios can't drive in four runs to pass Wells in 4-6 weeks.
I am not trying to make excuses but it is a combination of underachieving and injuries.
They also had both of their shortstops hurt in the same game and put on the 15 day DL.
I agree. The bats look like long toothpicks out there. They just can't hit.shack said:I hadn't realized Alex was that close. Wells was still in the lead when he came back from his wrist injury and I was thinking the same thing might happen.
If they'd just had a bit of this spark in the first half instead those totally moribund bats they could have been maybe 6 games out instead of 10 1/2. They're 9 out of the wildcard.Stranger things have happened, especially with lots of divisional games left but with the injury situation as it is, it would be nothing short of a miracle.
This is still a more professional organization than the Leafs and I'd much rather go to or watch a Jays game instead of the Leafs.
I agree. McGowan and Burnett are very similar. They can be potentially great pitchers. It's a little too late for Burnett but McGowan still shows promise (being younger). They have fantastic stuff and when they are on, they are almost unbeatable. I think it is the mental aspect of the game that eludes them.teassoc said:Pitching hasn't been so good in the last month. McGowan and Burnett in particular.
Batting seems to have improved. Good to see Inglett and Lind doing so well now.
At least get something for Burnett.guyroch said:
You know who has a bigger mouth the JP ... Paul Godfrey ... He acts and talks Richard Peddie .... Today he says Jays have no intention of trading anybody ... Shouldn't that statement be left too JP to say ..
It's funny how you mentioned Godfrey. He was right by the building where I live and he was speaking to someone. I walked by him and I said "Fire Ricciardi!". If he was by himself, I would have let him have an earful.guyroch said:You know who has a bigger mouth the JP ... Paul Godfrey ... He acts and talks Richard Peddie .... that was you that interrupted us??lawyerman said:It's funny how you mentioned Godfrey. He was right by the building where I live and he was speaking to someone...
No comparison. Godfrey is a man who has accomplished a lot in his life and for this city. You may not agree with everything he does or says but he is a man of integrity and passion who had more class in the piece of jaw that he had removed than Peddie will ever have.guyroch said:

Or fake a shoulder problem. Is Steward still injured?shack said:Time for a Halladay gem.
Are you implying that Halladay would fake an injury?hunter001 said:Or fake a shoulder problem. Is Steward still injured?
No it was a joke but I wouldn't blame him if he did.lawyerman said:Are you implying that Halladay would fake an injury?
lawyerman said:Pure sacrilege. He is one of the classiest players in the HISTORY of the game.
That's cool. I don't think I have ever heard anyone saying anything bad about Halladay. Great pitcher and person.hunter001 said:No it was a joke but I wouldn't blame him if he did.
