I was thinking about it earlier today and I'd say the odds of them making the post-season at this time would be about 10 or 15 to 1 against.

only one I feel bad for is Ernie.....
I completely agree with you. He seems more Canadian (even though he's not) than some Canadians do. He is a knowledgeable baseball man and Ricciardi has been wanting to get rid of Whitt for some time now. What a stupid move.

I must admit I am quite disappointed with Rios at this time. I know the offence is struggling (what an understatement), but he signs a big contract and he is falling apart (coincidence?)
I like Rios but he has to smarten up and play up to his potential. This team has been bombarded by injuries. Out of the starting lineup, Rios and Overbay have been the only regulars that have been "healthy" all year so far.

Another loss. Can't watch the Bluejay no more this season. I think this season is done. They better fire JP at the end of the year.

this is the difference between a REAL Manager and a former bullben catcher manager wannabe who got the job because his friend is a bigger idiot in a higher position:

I’m going to play him,” Gaston said of Lind. “This kid is having a great year down there and he’s hit everywhere (in his minor-league career). I think he’s one of the kids that’s going to be part of the future of this club, so he’s going to play

On Sunday, Lind was 2-for-3 including a solo home run in the fourth

just another example of what an ass J.P. is: still feel I’m the best manager Toronto has never hired.”—Ernie Whitt, the Jays’ former first-base coach who was bitter over being fired last Friday after spending most of his baseball life in the Jays’ organization as a player or a coach......I agree with Ernie, I love Cito but Ernie is right

To be fair to Gibbons he had to play the retreads J.P. went got and Lind wasn't hitting major league pitching when he was up before. The funny thing is that Cito was the guy letting the veteran play and holding back the younger guys in the past. (It was one of the reasons he wasn't the guy to manage a rebuilding teaming.)

I still say putting Ernie in charge in the middle of the season doesn't make a lot of sense it terms of the team needs a seasoned manager and not a rookie. Ernie might deserve a job as a manager in the majors but I am not convinced that he could do anything with a team, mid season, that is under performing. With Cito if someone questions what he is doing they don't have to look any further then the two world series rings he has.

I am very pleased that Lind is now the full time left fielder. He should have had the position at the beginning of the year when they traded away Reed.

He struggled for the short time he was here this year but he wasn't given a fair chance. Let's see how he does because he is the best prospect Toronto has.

I thought he was a bit of a disappointment when he was up before. However Mench hasn't proved much of a batter so happy to see Lind back and doing so well. Inglett has also done very well.

Pitching is now starting to be more of a worry, particularly Burnett and McGowan. With Marcum out for a couple of weeks that's going to be a problem.

Will ALEX RIOS hit at least one home run in June.
Yes, at least one HR in June for ALEX. What is the scariest sight? LYLE OVERBAY with a bat in his hands and runner(s) on base.

Jays are up 7-1, if they win tonight what will Cito's record be since he took over???

EDIT: I just looked it up, if we win today Cito will be 3 wins and 2 losses so far

That's almost 100 points better than his career average! He must have learned a few things in the last decade .....

Can anyone explain Halladay's recent loss of form? Easy wins for Burnett and Litsch against the same team makes that even harder to understand.

Not sure the series win is a sign of things improvement or just poor opposition. We'll see in the Atlanta series whether they can maintain a little run. Atlanta however also has a poor road record won't be able to read too much into results unless of course the Jays do badly.

Could it be that in his last start he got hit directly in the head and got hurt ... Emotionally might not be as easy to get back on the horse ( hope that is the expression ) or trying to tuff it out ...

I don't think it's been just his last start since getting beaned. He's been good this year and a workhorse, but he hasn't been as dominating as in years past. He's been a bit more hittable.

Blue Jay on 3rd base and LYLE OVERBAY at bat. Guy on 3rd base should have tried to steal home. What were they thinking? Did they actually think that LYLE would actually drive in a runner from 3rd base?

Yes a nice improvement. Same old team though at not converting chances. Twice lead off doubles led to nothing.

They now have a chance to improve further by reversing that very disappointing series result against Seatle. :)
