We have enacted laws that are in contravention to religion in order to afford people equal treatment, because we are secular. You are conflating our laws, with religion.

opposing same sex marriage isn't opposing homosexuality... sure some sacraments from religions are interpreted differently...at the end of the day...there's one religion that opposes homosexuality and still punishes homosexuals by death...which one is it?

No. ALL Religions outright oppose homosexuality. Christianity, Islam and Judaism, all fundamentally forbid homosexuality and call it a sin. Religions are not tolerant or inclusive. What you are referring to are laws. We have LGBTQ laws that are enacted in contravention to religious principles, in order to provide equal rights to people. And from that standpoint there are nations like Russia, that are staunchly Christian and where LGBTQ is illegal .

Their conservatism is derived from religion. The same way conservatism in the Muslim world, is derived from religion. It was due to religion that LGBTQ people were not accepted here in the west. Both Russia and the middle eastern countries have LAWS that make homosexuality illegal.
