You don't care about anything outside the city centre so arguing about anything outside of that is really pointless with you.
If you're against building housing outside of downtown then what point are you actually trying to make here other than you prefer that everyone live in over-crowded cities even though the majority of people prefer not to?
Your survey also said 1/3 of younger people don't think they will ever be able to afford a house.
You're pushing for something people can't afford anymore and won't back changing the system so they could.

I'd say 1/3 is lots of them.
Thanks for confirming my point.

If that poll said how many people would prefer a castle with a swimming pool downtown to a one bedroom basement apartment, what do you think the numbers would be?
How about if the poll was about if they'd like free ponies?

You keep arguing that people should only be allowed to buy suburban sprawl then defending the system that makes them unaffordable and unavailable.
You argue for something you are making impossible.
I have a home, a big home, and I'm not ready for condo living yet but someday maybe for sure...I don't think I'll be ever up for a high rise condo but a house condo in a gated community is something that appeals to me.

Not quite...you think everyone should live downtown. You are pivoting to affordability. Condos downtown are the most expensive in the country so that's not the point.
You prefer everyone to live in the city core regardless of affordability.

No, skoob.
Suburban sprawl is the worst use of resources and civic design ever.
You can choose to live there if you want but you can't tell people those are the only choices you think count.

When 2/3 of people prefer houses it's not me telling anyone what their preferences are.
"I have a family of 4 and I want to live in a downtown condo with no backyard, Airbnb party units next to me and down the street from a safe-injection site"...said no one ever.

Have you heard his take on immigrants

Sweden's situation is unique and cannot be applied to North America. Sweden is a very closed off country. My friend actually moved from Sweden to Canada and the country frankly sucks. There are not many jobs, if you thought Canada was laid back, Sweden sounds even more laid back, unemployment rates are high amongst immigrants both due to language and due to systemic racism, the language is exclusionary - you could expect people to atleast say "yes" and "no" in Canada, but no one can speak Swedish, resulting poverty etc., are reasons why crime is high amongst immigrant populations.

The same does not apply to the US or Canada, where the majority of crimes are committed by citizens. Infact a 2014 study in Canada indicated that property crimes decrease with more immigration.

Ah yes the desperate name calling tactic.
The death knell of someone losing an argument.

Guess what...you lose...again.

You always try to declare you've won an argument when you know you've lost.
Its really sad.

All your arguments fell apart.
Again.

Says the guy who starts name calling when he can't answer questions or debate a topic reasonably.
When you have nothing left but to name call and insult, that's a sign you lost the argument.

ps you lost.

Losing our food independence would be disastrous for the GTA. As for Bill Maher:

Bill "I am relevant too" Maher. 😂

Oh and regarding the unemployment, I was just watching this video my friend sent me this morning:

Frank .

" City's are safer than rural areas."

Really?

Tell that to someone that lives in any large USA city OR in areas of our big cities like Toronto or Vancouver.

I lived near Detroit and yes being a coward was the the only way to not be robbed or killed if by chance you went into the wrong neighbourhood. at the wrong time and that was many years ago. Do you think its better now?

We have areas like that now,, jane and finch, regent park area etc.

Don't think that happens in Caledon, Georgetown, Aurora with the regularity it does in Toronto where people are crammed together like sardines in a can.

I don't have the time or the inclination to argue with you as that is your forte but couldnt let that go but I speak from experience.

unbelievable

swedes welcome immigrants into their country and now regret that decision due to poor integration & increasing crime rates, gang violence no less
and according to you its Sweden's fault. due to language , the language is exclusionary and due to systemic racism,

the language is exclusionary ??

too bloody bad, its the official language of the land, if you do not like it go elsewhere

hint: if you move to a country that speaks a different language , you should learn that language -right away
blaming gang violence on the host countries language is so disingenuous
Sweden had the misfortune to import violent thugs

canada welcomes immigrants into our country and now we are experiencing a housing shortage, rising antisemitism and increased crime
and according to you its Canada's fault for not building enough homes & of course due to systemic racism

starting to see a pattern here
what is wrong with you?

Doesn't matter what you spend on cops.

Lets be clear that most of Swedens immigrants are actually refugees as opposed to immigrants admitted via a points system that focuses on human capital factors like Canada does.

Yes, systemic racism is systemic and persistent and predates immigration. In Sweden. In the US. In Canada. Heck, in India too. It is a factor in every country around the world. In Sweden it was just more apparent after immigration is all. And I agree people should learn the language of the new country, but that takes like a few years, especially for Swedish which my friend who lived there says is a difficult one.

So you put an immigration system where it isn't possible to select immigrants and combine it with a very unique language, and a generally reserved and closed off culture, the end result is that these refugees dont get jobs, get segregated or are relegated to doing the lowest paying jobs, or are resorting to crime etc., This is not my analysis. This is Sweden's analysis on why their crime rates have gone up since admitting refugees.

This is not the case with Canada. Canada selects its immigrants. Canada's housing shortage is also primarily caused by supply side pressures, not demand. You yourself produced a graph that proved that.

Lastly when it comes to crime in Canada, A) The majority of crimes are committed by citizens, not immigrants. B) A 2014 study in Canada found, that MORE immigration resulted in LESS property crime.

So the "pattern" here indicates that a) overall immigration is great for Canada b) Sweden and Canada are not comparable c) Bill Maher is full of shit.
