Arod, do you meat all your friends at Gibbys?
You have to develop a tastre for it...But I do enjoy Bear meat.

When I lived in Northern Ontario we used to hunt bears for the meat:eek:

Anyplace that sells Black Angus Beef... many butchers and stores around that sell it.

Kobe beef is good but very expensive.

I'd vote for Bardi's too. Small, bit of a hidden place on York St., old school steakhouse. Some of the biggest shrimp cocktail in the city too!

That place on Yonge just north of Gerrard was called LINDY's.

Arguably the "best bang for a buck" steakplace in Toronto's history.

That isn't real steak. It was somekind of meat that was pressed together to form what looked like a steak. No shitting you.

Best cheap steak at Master's Steak down the road from treasures.

And having been to virtually every steak house in TO imho Tom Jones is the tastiest.

...used to be the best until theyh switched from U.S. Prime to Canadian beef. On my last trip I dropped 3 bills for the wife and I, and left pissed as hell...the waiter even acknowledged that since they had made the switch people were complaining (he was the one who culed me in that the switch had been made...all I asked was "WTF"). Given the now (relatively) poor quality and the OUTRAGEOUS drink prics...I haven't been back.

Morton's used to be my most consistent favorite - I've been to Morton's all over the world, and typically they very consistently deliver, and for less than Harbor Sixty (Dinner for two @ Mortons is typically $225 - $250). Alas, on my last couple trips there I've again been like "WTF"...and again the waiter reported that a switch had been made from U.S. Prime to Canadian beef.

I've been to Ruth Chris in Mississauga, not bad. I've been to Barbarian's in the city...pretty good. And I agree with others that Le Biftique is a pretty good value, though can be inconsistent. But at this point, with both Harbor Sixty and Morton's leaving something to be desired (at least at those price points), I don't know if I can recommend ANYPLACE in the city for (world class) steak. What I do now is just wait until I am back in the U.S....
And then go to Gibson's?

...and what would YOU know about Gibson's? Do we have a Chicago guy lurking in the midst?

I've been a couple times (umm...I assume we are talking about the original in Chicago on State / Rush Streets...is Gibson's a chain now?) and Gibson's is good...but my favorite is still the ORGINAL Morton's on State / Rush. I used to go at least once a month, and it is still my favorite.

I find that the other Morton’s around the U.S. are good as well - not quite up to Arnie's original joint (and the one he still owns - he refused to make it part of the franchise chain) which is still the best, but good. It is only the one here in TO that I have had problems with.

Finally got to sample House Of Chan .

Meat was good, but was it worth the fitty dolla price tag ? Not really. We had porter house and rib eye. The salad that came with was fresh but Nothing to write home about.

Their lobsters looked great though. I am not sure if I'd try there but they sure got my attention.

Great service, knowledgable wait staffs, simple but not bad wine list.

I suppose for those who want good steaks and so,so Chinese food, Chan's the place. For a $ 200 and up dinning experience, there are quite a few others to choose from.

I've been to most of the high end steak places - Tom Jones, Harbour Sixty, Mortons, Ruth Chris, Black Angus,Hy's but the best steak I had was at a place called Houston's which I think was on Adelaide or Richmond. They didn't last long but now a new Houston's has resurfaced on Yonge.
