Best steak in Toronto....

As Mentioned before!

Black Angus...is an excellent choice....only problem..absoultly no steak seasoning before cooking.
Berbarians...excellent.
Ruth Chris...ok..but not impressed....Their 1600 degree oven in my estimation burns the hell out of a good rare steak
La Castielle superb steak...crummy location

All places mentioned are $$$-$$$$ expensive....
Happy eating

You've got to try Morton's on Avenue, just north of Bloor St. I thought Ruth's / Chris had the best steak, until I went to Morton's... I can't describe how great it is... seasoned prefectly and it just melted in my mouth... medium/rare...

If price does become a factor, try the restaurant located in the Marriott hotel located on Bay St. just south of Dundas... their filet mignon was pretty good too...

Agree, La Castile Hwy 5 (Dundas) at 427. Beef is aged to perfection. The best cut there is the rib steak. Sorry boys but Barberians is nice (used to go there when Harry owned it) but not in the same league as La Castile.
Forget Chris Ruth all sizzle and varying quality. Bardi's is ok but just ok. House of Chan is fine if your in the neighbourhood, but would not go out of my way to dine there for steak. Night in night out La Castile is the most consistent steak house in Metro, but forget the seafood, forget the ribs.
House of Chan rocks. It has history and is reliable. The lobster is great there too.

Blah, blah, blah ...

This thread reappears contionuously every few months (does nobody do a search before they start a new thread?)

As ususal ... Barberians is crap and caters to those of you who like extremely pretension and expensive brand names with no bang for your buck - comes with nothing except attitude. Same for Ruth Chris.

Unknown hole in the wall -- That Place for Steak on Sheppard avenue (in a strip mall with the Dairy Queen) at Bathurst. Best in town, and they serve rib steaks, which almost no one else does.

Easier - Le Bifteque does a surprisingly good job - one of the better spicing jobs around (most places don't bother)

For a more upscale event, try Carmen's on Alexander street. Open fire places and garlic till tomorrow.

Just as with the theatre - I'm always available to join you for the taste test!

Good Luck.

For a trucker's stop, Master Steak makes a dynamite steak and eggs breakfast. It's just off the 401 at Dixie... yummy

Thunder..I'm sorry but geez ( I love Meat) but oil and garlic are a steak's best friend!!!

Unless..and only unless...KOBE beef...then just garlic!
Leather..Rib steaks are ok..but maybe a bit more fatty tha "marbled"
I knows what I likes!

Been to Ruth Chris and good thing someone else was paying. Been to Hy's where I paid. Both places fancy with dudes in suits serving and dudes and dudettes in suits eating but Master Steaks with the cookie standing over the open flame, sleeves rolled up,ciggie hanging out of his mouth with ash about to fall anytime now that is cool. You stand in line and put in your order and when its ready they call you back to retrieve it. Good food does not need fancy suroundings.

The Place for Steak and Seafood , that's the name.
Right inside the mall at the NW corner of Sheppard/Bathurst, a few stores left of Bagel Plus. DQ is quite hard to spot from the road without large lit sign , but there is a Dominion super.

As mentioned by LD, the place is not dressed up but nonetheless it is a restaurant, lots of wood in front, spacious early 80's deco, cozy interior with mirrors, gold trims, high ceiling, much more open than Barb.

10oz N.Y. cut about $ 31, very tastey ,well prepared. Not exactly Barbarian, but excellent bang for the buck. Best $ 30 steak I ever had at restaurants in T.O.
I will not hesitate to eat there again when in that area.

Onion soup , garlic bread, house salad dressing were all very good. Meals plus beer, worked out to about $41 per person.

Not GFE, PSE, more like a warm , loving and satisfying Wifey experience . No info on wine list, I didn't partake.

best steak

The absolute best steak is at Harbour 60, across from the Air Canada Centre.
I have sampled them all, Ruth Chris, Hys, Keg, Bardis, Bigliardis, Craftsteak, Smith and Wollenskys, and Mortons. Hands down Harbour 60 is the best.
