Help me out here! Went through a very rough day. I did what I had to do but was only operating on 4 of 8 cylinders all day.

Took a whole ton of vitamins in AM including B. Drank a whole bunch of sports drinks.

Didn't have any red bull or anything....Would that have done any good?

Eventually went and exercised and felt somewhat better.

Let me know, because the next two Fridays I have 2 pretty heavy duty "social functions" to go to.

I should have remembered to drink a large glass of water before bed... that usually helps.

Is it just me or do you find draught beer gives you a headache next day? Think I'm gonna stick to some harder stuff.

Anyway.... next day cures are needed here.

Most hangovers are caused primarily by dehydration, and to a lesser extent a loss of other electrolytic components.

Having a sports drink or two will help with the sugars and other electrolytes. But it will only go a short way towards rehydration, which takes time: the water you drink will be used to flush out waste components as well as to rehydrate your system. So it will take several glasses of water over several hours to complete the process.

A little exercise will help get the system pumping, as it were, allowing fluids to reach dehydrated tissues.

But you'll also want to get a good base of food before you start drinking (dilute the effects of alcohol, and focus the blood in the gut and on processing the food). Then, lots of water through the evening and after drinking. An asprin or two (max) as an anti-inflammatory (NOT Advil, which acts very differently and can be toxic to the liver when combined with alcohol). And a couple light meals afterwards (including the next day) to again help the system.

Early morning BJ (receiving to be clear:)), followed by an Aspirin, and a coffee does it for me. Remember to have enough water on your bedside. I could use 2/3 1.5L bottels on one of those mornings.

OK well I will be a tester for the next while. Actually the excercise works great. Initially it is aweful, but once you have broken a heavy sweat, it is good. It seems all that bad stuff in your system burns out of you.

How about a large red bull in the AM?

Well, come to think of it, I had this party up north and I drank that Vodka RockStar you get from the liquor store. I don't seem to remember any hangover off of that. Think I'll stick to that next time.

Got a chauffeur (even) for next time... feel like Tony Soprano.

A vasoconstrictor sounds a bit scarry to me... kind of like a snake.

Anyway will go with Vodka Rockstar Friday night... we had good success, so we'll go again!

(Please don't phone Saturday till after 11:00).

Sorry to be so enthusiastic

But it is a bunch of Fridays in a row.... I lead a very sheltered life.... no time off ever it seems, so I just blocked out everything to be with friends. Friends are important and I have been too busy to see them lately, and that is not good.... so I made them the priority. I really won't drink very much... but if I do it is because they MADE me.

never had a headache after a night of drinking... I always drink a few glasses of water, orange juice, eat food after a heavy night of drinking, before I hit the bed... also helps to have a huge glass of water by your bed.... wake up after a few hrs of sleep, drink it and go back to sleep again

Whenever i go out on a binge i always drink 2 extra large glasses of ice cold water before i crash for the night. Upon waking i eat breakfast and have a glass of orange juice with another 2 glasses of water. This does it for me.

I

Intrigued

I just drink like a liter of water before I go to sleep, never have a hangover.

That's always my excuse too.

At first glance I'm a solitary figure, an industrious workaholic, an abstainer perhaps, alone in my room, hunched over my computer. But night after night of hanging out here, you guys have made me empty a closetful of scotch bottles.

Now it's the morning after and you're making me down one more for the road.

I must be getting old. I can no longer get my head around the concept of, "Help me out, i'm planning on abusing and mistreating my body so bad that i might fuck it up real good, anything i can do as a measure to prevent some of the side-effects?"

Probably not "old", unless you're growing into logic. Drinking too much has always seemed silly to me - I'm really awesome as I am, why would I choose to lose control over myself?! (Or maybe that's youth-ego... probably youth ego).

Ice cold shower for 5 seconds, works like a charm!
Oh em gee hi Kat! Welcome to online world!
And I hear cold showers are good for other things as well...
</threadjack, sorry guys>
