Chippy's is handsdown the best fish and chips I've ever had. Their fries are amazing too. If you don't like the Queen W vibe, there's also one on Bloor close to Bathurst.Hangman said:Agree, but it's a little expensive and the staff cop a really irritating Queen W attitude.
But they did, twice. Thanks for the link though (and the advice).peteeey said:I`m surprised no one has mentioned Olde Yorke on Laird Drive. Get there early on weekends. There`s always a lineup of Leaside waspish types.

Black Cat is still in business, same owner, same great fish & chips! Located on the East side of Avenue Road just south of Wilson.eric42 said:Black Cat on Avenue Road was pretty good when I was last there 10 years ago. I don't know if it is still there.
I'll have to give that one a try. A little north on Weston, a couple of blocks north of Lawrence is a place caled Sun Crisp. It's easily one of the best I've ever had.Davy.Biggie said:it's not in downtown it's uptown on weston rd near jane and it's called Golden Crisp

family run place.
Why Not? said:There is a tiny little cinder block bunker (painted white) on the south side of Harbord near Brunswick. No room to eat inside but there are picnic tables outside. His fish is pretty good. I don't even know if it has a name posted.
The place is about the size of a small garage and may have been one at one time as it is at the entrance to an alley.
Chippy's on Queen West is also good. (Not a sit-down restaurant either.)
Sun Crisp has been around for many years. I used to go there in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Glad to hear it is still so great!Tangwhich said:I'll have to give that one a try.
