Best Burger Place in Toronto?

I used to like Five Guys, it tastes good, but then one time part of the burger patty slipped out of the bun and it was a part that wasn't covered in any condiments. I took a bite of just the plain beef patty and it wasn't that special at all, just mediocre at best.

Magoo's in Etobicoke has always been good to me..

Also The Grillway (at Runnymede & Annette).. Their burgers are fantastic! Nothing special about the bun or toppings.. And the service is awful at the best of times (think unorganized Soup Nazi).. But there's something in the beef they use that makes for a wildly tasty burger..

I'm a huge fan if the burger cellar ( couple of doors down from the burger priest ). Burgers are fantastic but Their duck poutine is absolutely outstanding!!!

Going in, I knew it would be overpriced for the yuppie neighbourhood, which it was (some $15 burgers) but the burgers were dry, dry, dry. "Sorry, we have to cook them at least medium well, city regulations."

Well Burger's Priest can cook them to order, medium rare etc. The reason is that BP grinds their own meat on the premises, hence they are not bound by the regs. For the price one pays at the Cellar, I expect to have my burger cooked to order as opposed to leatherised. How difficult can it be to to grind your own meat instead of having it shipped in, especially for a "gourmet" burger place?

A place (not necessarily for burgers) I like better a couple of blocks north on Yonge is "Stack", a BBQ smokehouse. A little overpriced, but they try for that southern BBQ style. Not totally authentic but reasonable for the neighbourhood.

I have to agree that the Cellar burgers are dry.

The Stack has great poutine (smoked meat in the gravy) and decent pulled pork. Was less than thrilled by their smoked meat sandwich.

The beauty of a place like the Burger's Priest is that they use fresh ground beef which means you can order it medium rare, which is how I like it. I know others swear by this place but I'm not very impressed with the joint, I mean all they do is burgers right? I don't think I'll give them a 4th. chance. It was the same each time, 5 mins to order and another 20 mins pick it up. 25 mins for a take-out burger, fail!

A friend told me about The Stockyards on St. Clair W. so I've been going there. They also use fresh ground beef so you can order medium rare. Add on their house smoked bacon, yum!

I've only been to the Stockyards once (for brunch) and it was pretty good. The bacon was delicious. Too bad it's near impossible to find seating.

Does the Stockyards still do the Butter Burger (with bone marrow)? I still haven't had a chance to try it.. I keep getting their fried chicken or pulled pork.. They have GOT to open up a larger location..

No kidding, the place is always packed. I just call my take-out order in ahead of time and it's ready when I arrive. Here's their menu.

Really? Too much filler in their burgers. A good burger shouldn't contain any filler, just the right cuts of beef, % of fat and salt. Cooked on the flat top grill.
