It isn't too bad around 12:30-2pm. But it's dead between 4 and 7, after which it starts to pick up again.Has anyone been there on a Friday afternoon lately? I keep hoping things will improve and it'll be worth the trip.

Is there a free lunch at that hour, like the old days?It isn't too bad around 12:30-2pm. But it's dead between 4 and 7, after which it starts to pick up again.
No, the free lunch has not returned and I was told by the manager that they do not intend bringing it back.Is there a free lunch at that hour, like the old days?
Wow. that's a lot of cash for a whole lotta nothing in return.I just went to the Faxc today and got two of the worst lap dances I ever had.
The first girl was very pretty and went went for several songs. It took 4 songs for her to get naked, not touching at all after a few more songs. Out.
The second girl, also very pretty, actually did a pretty good "grind", but no touching whatsoever and she never removed her bottoms after 7songs.
I'll never go back.
I do miss the strip club option - enjoying a drink while watching dances and being able to spend under $100 for a few songs of fun. But I dont miss having no idea what to expect from a girl. So I'm happy with the spa option - more expensive but you know what youre getting in comparison.Wow. that's a lot of cash for a whole lotta nothing in return.
Thank goodness for online porn - at least it is free.
Interesting and somewhat discouraging report from a Saturday night experience at the 'Fax.Decided to take a break from dance bars and instead visit Barefax last night Saturday first time in many months.
Arrived around 11 pm. $9 just to get in. More expensive drinks. Lots of ladies, may be as many as two dozen, some good looking. Full of customers at midnight. Very slow service. I had to wait over half hour to get a drink. The student girl sitting next to me told me she had ordered twice already but every time the server forgot. Few servers and too many customers. They are shooting themselves in the foot. Long breaks even though the bar was full of anxious customers eager to see a show. Again they are shooting themselves in the leg.
One thing I notice is that how worthless money has become. Forget about putting a $5 bill on stage. You will be frown at. People were putting bunch pf $20 and even $50 bills. One guy threw away $20 and $50 bills on stage like he was distributing candies. I estimate between $200 to $500 in one song on one dancer. How could I dare to put $10 on stage anymore? Dancers' main income however was stage money customers were putting on stage as I saw few dancers going up for private dances. My conclusion was that private dances are so low mileage that they are not worth it so I didn't take private dances either. Instead i put $20 bulls on stage so that student girl sitting next to me go on stage and have fun with dancers.
Ottawa in general has become very quiet. Streets are empty late at nights and bars are quiet and most of the time dead. Dance bars half empty and of much older age. Strop bars also very quiet most of the time and very expensive.
In general, I have to agree with you R_D. There are always exceptions but I myself have lost interest in visiting the clubs in the last few months. I used to get this adrenalin rush when I would visit but now there is almost a dread about going in. What with the scammers and such.Interesting and somewhat discouraging report from a Saturday night experience at the 'Fax.
Unfortunate that with the place "full of customers at midnight" and with "maybe as many as two dozen dancers" there were long breaks. Also unusual (at least in my experience) that there would be showers of twenties and even fifties as stage tips. Have only noticed this sort of thing when some sort of special occasion was going on - the last night of a club or the last shift of a long-time dancer. H_K, it was good of you to place twenties on stage "so that student girl" could "go on stage and have fun with dancers". Hope she appreciated it.
It has been quite a while since I've been in a local SC late night and recent reports are not that encouraging. With the 'Fax closed most afternoons and less-than-great reports re the 'Den, I guess I'll stick to the afternoon scene at the 'Mate (although a recent report suggested that a late-night visit might be enjoyable). It can be very hot/cold and rather dull when it's a 'bad' day. I get a sense that the evening scene at 77, at least on weekend nights, is a bit unusual with more of a dance-club-with-strippers atmosphere.
Hate to sound like a complainer, but it seems that the local SC scene is generally in bad decline.
Downtown Ottawa is always dead Thanksgiving long weekend. A lot of the students leave town.Decided to take a break from dance bars and instead visit Barefax last night Saturday first time in many months.

Thanks for letting me know, I was thinking of dropping by this afternoon. I'm never downtown in the evenings, so I guess my trips to the Barefax are over for good. They've dropped their Friday daytime hours. Now opening at 6pm Fridays, same as the rest of the week.
Even though it's been a while since I've been to the 'Fax (at any time of day), it is a little bit discouraging to hear this. If things were getting to be so slow that it barely seemed worthwhile to be open even one afternoon a week, I wonder what that portends for the future in a more general sense. They've dropped their Friday daytime hours.
