BTW: That cop is suspended WITH pay which means the offence isn't that serious, which it isn't. If it was, he'd be suspended without pay. I can also bet you that it is a political move so the Force can say to the public: we've done something about it.

He was Waaaaay off track as far as that situation goes...clearly he doesnt know what hes doing and its big enough to get him suspended. The fact that a 17yr vet is on traffic duty driving around in a golf cart must tell you something about what his peers think of him and his "ability".

We as a society give police a lot of leeway to do their jobs - often taking their word as gospel. And to a certain extent, they need that to do their jobs. But that sort of chip-on-the-shoulder crap has nothing to do with real police work and all it does is undermine the good work other police do.

The kids/young adult in the videos certainly do not respect that individual or other police more after their encounters with Officer Rivieri, so what did he accomplish? Really, that's what it comes down to - he has given the department a black eye by acting like a wannabe tough guy buffoon and totally over-escalating both of the videotaped situations.

Now the Baltimore Police, who have much more important things to do look ridiculous. Do you think that "The Wire" and "Homicide - Life on the Street" (two of the best TV shows of all time, btw) both take place in "Ballmore" by accident? The appearance of picking on some scrawny little white kids who were doing next to nothing in the tourist Inner Harbour area of the city while on the other hand leaving the drug and crime-riddled inner city to crumble under its own oppressive weight is terrible.

Hero: While you make some valid points, watch the video closely at the very beginning: the cop is 100% polite, speaking softly and totally respecting the kids.

It isn't until the brat starts up with the attitude and the "dude" that the cops starts to exercise his authority.
