Didn't distort anything. Just pointed out Apple has classes that cost $99.danibbler said:Wrong? Once again, you are distorting information. One on one classes do cost but group classes are free.
And I was pointing out while this is true, Apple still sells racks of Apple apps that cost MORE than M$ apps.danibbler said:No, I am not saying that. I am saying that for every application that you have listed as being FREE on the Linux side you can get an equivalent program for FREE on the Mac side.
Then perhaps you were merely befuddled!....danibbler said:The sort that doesn't have to lie and distort information.
So, stop ducking the question, what MORE were you referring to that you get on the Linux side?
First off, when you first started off talking about classes you conveniently left off the fact that group classes are free.Didn't distort anything. Just pointed out Apple has classes that cost $99.
See Mac nobs taking them and signing up for them at the Apple Store.
So obviously they find Mac harder to master than you let on....
BTW I had no problem picking up OSX.....it reminded me of an old Linux Fedora distro, only Fedora had better 3-D effects....
Really..which apps? And I was pointing out while this is true, Apple still sells racks of Apple apps that cost MORE than M$ apps.
Fact? Let's see a link. I've also run my Macs for months without needing to reboot and I am on my machine a LOT. Got to make money somehow. For MORE, how about the undisputed FACT Linux is rated even more stable than M$ AND Mac! Some Linux users have reported running their machines for several months 24/7 with no need to reboot.
Another MORE is the fact there are several thousand FREE apps available in the various Linux Repositories! Can Mac match that???
Come to the Buffalo Apple Store, I see then there 'one on one' all the time.Third, I never saw anyone taking those courses at the Apple Store.
The one's in the Mac store racks!!!!Really..which apps?
When the Business world isn't using M$, they turn to Linux for rock solid reliability.Fact? Let's see a link. I've also run my Macs for months without needing to reboot and I am on my machine a LOT. Got to make money somehow.
As for free apps, once again, whatever Linux has, Mac has. Whatever you're running on your Linux system, there is an equivalent FREE version for my Mac system.
Servers and supercomputers
Servers designed for Linux
Linux distributions have long been used as server operating systems, and have risen to prominence in that area; Netcraft reported in September 2006 that eight of the ten most reliable internet hosting companies ran Linux distributions on their web servers.[54] (As of June 2008, Linux distributions represented five of ten, FreeBSD three of ten, and Microsoft two of ten.[55])
Components of IBM Roadrunner, the world's fastest supercomputer 2008, which runs Linux.[56]
Linux distributions are the cornerstone of the LAMP server-software combination (Linux, Apache, MySQL, Perl/PHP/Python) which has achieved popularity among developers, and which is one of the more common platforms for website hosting.
Linux distributions are also commonly used as operating systems for supercomputers: as of June 2009, out of the top 500 systems, 443 (88.6%) run a Linux distribution.[56]
Wow...I strongly doubt that because if there were people taking such courses, it'd be behind in the back where you can't see it at all.Come to the Buffalo Apple Store, I see then there 'one on one' all the time.
Let's get serious..you're just like a snake oil salesman. What Apple software are you talking about that's more expensive than M$ software? The one's in the Mac store racks!!!!
What kind of Mac salesman are you?
That's for servers! LOL!When the Business world isn't using M$, they turn to Linux for rock solid reliability.
Mac gets no mention......
NOT AT ALL!!!Wow...I strongly doubt that because if there were people taking such courses, it'd be behind in the back where you can't see it at all.
When perusing through several of the Mac Racks loaded with Mac apps FOR SALE I saw: Norton AV for Mac, M$ Office for Mac, some photo and graphic apps, some games, to mention a few and they ALL COST MORE than equivalent Windows apps.Let's get serious..you're just like a snake oil salesman. What Apple software are you talking about that's more expensive than M$ software?
This may be true but I'm just reporting what is at the Apple Store here, where they have FOR SALE plenty of MAC apps and ALL cost more than M$ equivalent apps. That's for servers! LOL!
Notice that you didn't respond to the comment:
As for free apps, once again, whatever Linux has, Mac has. Whatever you're running on your Linux system, there is an equivalent FREE version for my Mac system.
LOL! Given how much of a fanboy you are for Linux and how often you trash Mac, I don't think it's a case of you "kidding".NOT AT ALL!!!
There were a couple times the Mac 'tutor' made me give up a chair I was using running an iMac because he told me he had an appointment to give a 'one on one class' with the iMac I was using, right there in the Apple Store on the main floor, in public. That's where they run those paid classes in Buffalo!
I'm NOT kidding you here nibbler!....
When perusing through several of the Mac Racks loaded with Mac apps FOR SALE I saw: Norton AV for Mac, M$ Office for Mac, some photo and graphic apps, some games, to mention a few and they ALL COST MORE than equivalent Windows apps.
Ahh..so you were not talking about software from either Apple Inc. nor Microsoft Corp. Ok, I give on that point because if you're talking about third-party software developed for the respective platforms, the Mac version MIGHT be more expensive. This may be true but I'm just reporting what is at the Apple Store here, where they have FOR SALE plenty of MAC apps and ALL cost more than M$ equivalent apps.
Linux has several repositories with several thousand apps currently available for use and download all free.
Does Mac have the same number of free Mac apps????????
I'm serious here. That's what they do in Buffalo. The paid one on one classes are held on the main floor in public.LOL! Given how much of a fanboy you are for Linux and how often you trash Mac, I don't think it's a case of you "kidding".
That was my point, uh and it is more expensive than M$ apps.Ahh..so you were not talking about software from either Apple Inc. nor Microsoft Corp. Ok, I give on that point because if you're talking about third-party software developed for the respective platforms, the Mac version MIGHT be more expensive.
So you admit Mac is deficient here and doesn't have several thousands of free apps like Linux does then!....As for free apps, once again, you can run Linux apps on a Mac which, in fact, makes your point about thousands of free Linux apps irrelevant. LOL!
So you admit Mac is deficient here and doesn't have several thousands of free apps like Linux does then!....
You're too funny!
Well then why didn't nibbler post that????Hmm - Mac application repositories? Let's try...
http://www.macports.org/ - 6186 apps and counting!
http://www.opensource.apple.com/
http://developer.apple.com/Darwin/
http://www.freebsd.org/ports/ - 20677 apps!
...and that doesn't count all the Linux apps that already compile and run on OS X - but that's over your head...
Actually, lots of people pay for Linux - and by choice. RedHat is making a good profit at it...Well then why didn't nibbler post that????
Linux people have always said Mac is 'just a Linux Distro that you have to pay for' and that makes this statement look more true than ever.....
Of course, why would ANYONE pay for a free Linux Distro is a whole other ball of wax.....
True but their parent Fedora is coming on strong again and that's free....Actually, lots of people pay for Linux - and by choice. RedHat is making a good profit at it...
No, the Mac has access to the same free apps as Linux. It's not at all deficient. So you admit Mac is deficient here and doesn't have several thousands of free apps like Linux does then!....
