Of course we have to dispute what YOU say, otherwise, people here would get the impression that you have to PAY for courses at the Apple Store and that Mac users do not have the same access to FREE programs as Linux users do.
Really???
Is the M$ Office version for MAC, free???

I overhear Mac salesmen 'selling' Mac classes to people who just bought their first Mac and feel they can't pick it up in their own.....lol

Mac salesmen also push the Mac Extended Warranty?!?!!?!!?!?

If Mac's are sooooooooo great why bother with any extended WARRANTY!?!??!?!

I didn't get/need one for my Toshiba almost 2 yrs ago, that BTW has worked flawlessly to date with Vista/Ubuntu!.....;)

There's Open Office for OS X. Just like on *nix.

Free workshops and training? Right here - http://www.apple.com/ca/retail/workshops/

Regarding extended warranties, does Vista and Ubuntu cover hardware failure?

Troll moar, kthx.

The salespeople at the Apple store are pushing the classes since they're free! Does Windows or Linux offer free classes to people? I attended one a couple of years ago to learn about iWeb. It was really interesting and I gained good proficiency (since it was taught well, and because like most of Apple's app, was so easy to use!) in one session.

As to extended warranties, who doesn't sell them these days for hardware? Are you saying that other manufacturers and retailers don't offer this option for their customers? Apple's hardware is better than most PC makers, but it is still a piece of technology that can fail, especially hard drives!

Once again, when you write statements like this I wonder how you ever picked up your Linux skills.

Did you not read my statement? Let me refresh:

"get the impression that you have to PAY for courses at the Apple Store and that Mac users do not have the same access to FREE programs as Linux users do"

Do you really want to dig up that thread where it was PROVEN to you after many attempts that Apple Stores offer FREE courses for individuals? Huh? I'm sure that none of us want to go through that experience again.

So, what MORE were you talking about? Stop ducking the question.

Two points here where you are wrong:

1. Apple, 1 on 1 classes cost $99/year. These classes are NOT FREE!
2. Are you saying, the M$ Office version for MAC, is free???
While Mac had it's own app for this, most people in the world still use/prefer using the M$ version and I don't believe Apple offers this for free.

LOL!
WTF kind of Mac salesman are you???...:D

So, you're running a free version of MS Office on your Linux machine? Wow! What does Office have to do with anything anyway?

So WTF is your point? Open Office is available for Mac as well, along with just about every Linux app you can name. Who cares? Macs are still better...

[EDIT] And I run multiple Linux servers including Debian, RedHat and CentOS. I also run a couple of Xserves, and an office with about 20 Macs and a couple of Ubuntu desktops - 0h and a Windows XP piece of crap. (Macs are still better)

:)

I'm saying I use them all woody, don't really have a pref, and sharing the wealth means use whatever you can for free, but if you have to fork out dough for an os so be it. Btw I'm leaning towards os x

I use literally everything but Winblows ... well for obvious reasons MS servers other then AD and Exchange really blow .... most of our developers and now sales people prefer OSX .... literally you can use any and i mean any OS in our company with everything having a web interface for us ... everyone that comes along uses OSX.
Now server side each OS has its strengths and OSX really shows its short comings ... but rock solid Unix with BSD security roots... my biggest problem with Linux is when new hardware comes out and i want to deploy ... one fucking RAID card can kill a Linux deployment for weeks... main reason i like the OS and hardware from the same company... Sun Solaris ... OSX Apple .... and less of late IBM and AIX ....

Wrong? Once again, you are distorting information. One on one classes do cost but group classes are free.

No, I am not saying that. I am saying that for every application that you have listed as being FREE on the Linux side you can get an equivalent program for FREE on the Mac side.

The sort that doesn't have to lie and distort information.

So, stop ducking the question, what MORE were you referring to that you get on the Linux side?
