I watched this as well (without any prior knowledge of Cecil), was really getting into all the possibilities and entertaining the theories. But eventually I felt it dragged on too long and the ending was unsatisfying, was pretty disappointed with the reality. Oh well, killed 4h of my life.

I stopped watching it because it seemed to focus more about the hotel then the Alisa. I was interested the story of the hotel, I wanted to know what happened to the girl, so I just quickly googled it and then had no desire to watch the series anymore.

Just watched this. Not bad as time wasters go. The amount of interest it generated was surprising. The extreme effort the LA police put into it was surprising. They seemed to really take this one seriously. There were all sorts of stories about the hotel's nefarious history, including rumors about the "Black Dahlia"
Surprising the unwitting guests chose it for a back packers' destination. Downtown LA?
I actually stayed at the Cecil for a couple of nights several years ago after they tarted it up. Knew nothing about Elisa's case so decided to watch it. Very interesting series. While the room I stayed in wasn't bad (not great either lol) you could tell by the people who took the elevator it had a wide variety of societies misfits. When I was in LA at the time, the area around the Cecil was in the process of being gentrified. It has really gone to the dogs since then with all the homeless. Sad.

Yes. They said the elevator was the Achilles heel, because there was no way to keep the flop house element away from the tourists. Vertical Latrine I think is what they called it.

that was my experience with the show. They dragged it out just to make 4 episodes. Should have just made it a full documentary and left it at that.

I care a lot.
it’s better than expected. I won’t ruin it other than it’s pretty good and even joe rogan tweeted he liked it.

I watched both "The Vow" and "Seduced" docuseries about the Nxivm sex cult. Seduced is much better but both are fascinating to see how one person can control so many people minds and get them to believe such horse shit. It's no wonder there's so many people out there able to pull of scams because the amount of naive and gullible people seems to be endless.

I watched the Queen's Gambit this weekend. The show easily stands above all others in 2020, hands down and without a doubt. A compelling narrative, beautifully shot with superior story telling. The acting is phenomenal, the characters fully developed and the musical arrangement is simply inspired. A truly marvelous way to spend the afternoon enjoying a show created for adults without the senseless violence, near pornography, cgi and preaching.

We enjoyed Spotless on Netflix. It's about the owner of a company that cleans up crime scenes who gets in trouble with mob bosses because of his irresponsible brother. It's an English/French production. Unfortunately, there will be only one season because it was on the Esquire channel, which went belly-up. Apparently, Netflix was considering taking it over but all the actors had committed to other projects.

All 3 seasons of "Shtisel". An Israeli series about an ultra-orthodox group of Jewish famiilies and friends who live in Geulah, Jerusalem.

In Yiddish and Hebrew with English sub-titles.

You don't have to be Jewish to love it. Google the reviews before you say "no way". Mostly 5 stars...

Start with Season one, episode one, and get hooked. Thank me later!

You'll be hard pressed to find acting as good as what's in Shtisel and it's apparently it portrays very closely the life of ultra-Orthodox Jews (although some disagree). The third season is a bit too heavy but it's definitely worth watching. Shira Haas, one of the main characters in Shtisel, starred in Unorthodox about an ultra-Orthodox woman who flees an arranged marriage in Brooklyn and ends up in Germany. Alsio highly recommended..

It's been on my list.
