Like Bud Spencer films, Italian wines are more popular in Germany than their French counterpart. I know nothing about French wine, I wasn't raised with it. To honour Gl' Alemmani sommelier Agnese Gintere is doing the honours.

A bottle of Brunello di Montalcino can run you $45 minimum.

I enjoy watching her channel too, I found her cute with a sexy Italian accent, and quite knowledgeable in wine.
I recently bought a bottle of Langhe Nebbiolo for $19, a poor man's Barolo, young and green with a structued palette, reminds me of those young SPs who were new in the industry :)

Now I know how Einstein became a genius.

I did a background check on Ms Gintere, she's not German. Her bio says she represents the Baltic Countries.

Depends on the quality of the Chianti. Reserves and higher quality ones can be good at 20 years. Run of the mill ones at 10+ might be better as vinegar for salad dressing. Lol!

I have a relative that fancies himself a wine connoisseur, he drinks wine in the $80-150 a bottle price range. I told him that if he serves me any of that wine to put some 7up in it.

Sherry fortified with scotch is an amazing experience, I am partial to the sweeter drinks. Cognac and 7up. with a dash of St. Germain elderberry liqueur. St Germain is great alone, it is known as the mixed drink ketchup. It can improve many drinks like gin and 7up, tequila and orange juice.

GTA & Thereabouts...
For the guys that have gotten older, have you switched from beer to wine? I don't drink any other alcohol, but I love beer and drink lots once I get going... As such, I've cut it out from my life for the most part.

I know I shouldn't say it, but I'd like to feel like less of a douche/buzzkill if I could at least enjoy a glass of wine with someone over dinner, etc.

I'll have a beer with wings at a pub or at a summer bbq. Usually wine if out for dinner and hard liquor every other time.

I probably go through 60-80 bottles a year. Mostly Niagara that I buy on site during tastings. I have a very modest "cellar" now of maybe 25 bottles that I'm aging between 5-10 years that are starting to come first drinking. I continue to add to it.

I hit the little non LCBO wineries and will buy say 3 of a really good one. One for now, one for 5 years, and I started 10 year ones last year.

Niagara has great Cabernet Franc dominant blends. And nice aromatic whites.

And I buy lots of reasonable priced table wines there. Roses and simple merlots and chardonnay.

Only one way to find out. If it was stored right likely? Just open it and have a backup handy. Its not going to get better for most drinkers.

I generally enjoy wine by drinking it and savour the nose and tongue experience, not watching folks shill opinions on Youtube.
Yup. Love tastings.

In vino veritas is a Latin phrase translating to "in wine, [there is] truth". It means that people under the influence of alcohol are more likely to speak their hidden thoughts, secrets, and true feelings, acting as a "truth serum" that removes inhibition
