Zappa wrote some sensational orchestral music in the 80's, who knows what he might have accomplished if his life hadn't been cut short.

Duke of Prunes.

I saw drummer Attilio Terlizzi with Dwezil Zappa's band at the Phoenix.

You can hear the typical Zappa signature and know in a few notes you have been Zapped

The sound of a triad with the second note atonal - or something like that as I am not musically literate - combined with wayward drumming, horns playing the triad and guitar shredding

It is not classical music or jazz or rock it is Zappa

It is fun to listen to

Zoot your musical knowledge is superior to mine. I go by feeling and the ability to separate what is genuine (Zappa) and what is fake (Bon Jovi).

Dog Breath Variations.

One does not need knowledge to love music. Music is a story told with emotion instead of words. Mozart was brilliant at this expression . Refer to my post 573 on Mozart. Now you understand Mozart

Ruth Underwood was studying the xylophone at Julliard when she saw Zappa perform.

Ruth begged Zappa for an audition then dropped out of Julliard and joined The Mothers and never looked back

Ruth gives an explaination of Zappa music .

I said Zappa lost the second note of the triad and dropped down to atonal note but Ruth explains he drops down the third note .

This piece is two chords, instead of three chord triads, but retains the Zappa atonal sound with sharps and flats instead of the expected whole notes

It is appropriate to discuss rock stars in classical music
because some are the modern versions of classical composers

Pink Floyd is another example

Zappa was great live as he never overdubs the recording in a lab and each time he performs it is different. Other bands perform the exact same notes to perfection

Hendrix was the same as Zappa in live shows
