Here Polyphia plays with Steve Vai who played with Zappa
I will do what Daily Doug does and write comments as I hear the piece for the first time but I am untrained and will get stuff wrong LOL
Chords like d minor or c , which are mentioned by Doug, means certain notes are played , or not played, in a scale unless the music states otherwise. It is a trick to make it easier for musicians to be aware of notes to be played . It was Bach who gave us this modern understanding of music. Bach was a genius
At 3:16 they stop the music and flash the name of the song. The stopping of the music symbolizing ego death which is when you lose your man made ego of what you are and find your true self.
Doug missed that point as he thought they were just getting the name of the song in
He points out their cleaness which I did in above post IE a lot of notes quickly and hit them all.
I wonder if he will mention this talent in the drummer like I did in previous post
Doug mentions Major which is a more powerful and happy chord than a sad Minor chord
Doug mentions the numbers 5th, 6th ,7th etc which refer to the notes played along with a triad chord, I think
At 6:50 they go outside and play a unique different sound as Doug states. To me that sound symbolizes what you experience after ego death so they had to come up with a unique sound played outside for the symbolism of having been reborn.
Doug points out the variations in this piece do not change in meter IE the reaccurring pattern of notes, the tempo IE speed determined by time signature or the keys that is because the variations symbolizes ego before death which changes after death
This piece is called Ego Death for a reason
Doug is missing the symbolism
Tim Henson is a poet guitarist
At 11:40 Doug teaches me what a lament is which is played in the variations which symbolizes your ego before death which is why they play the laments
Ego after death is a oneness with God as your human ego is what dies
Doug celebrates the engineering work in the recording which means they are not as good live, I suspect
Well, it is amazing piece esp with Steve Vai who I have not heard since his Zappa days
I listened to Tim Henson talk music and he is what you would think. He is well spoken, thoughtful and quiet. Just like the smartest guy in the class is.
That is a real tatoo on his neck
I like G.O.A.T. , the first piece, the most but both pieces are amazing
