Any guys here have had a hernia? What type of repair experience did you have -- mesh, no mesh, open surgery, laprascopic surgery? How was recovery? How did your hernia affect your sexual activity before and after your repair?

I was there back in Feb , great experience and you are not wanting for food .

Only bad thing was the bed and pillow which i brought my own .

Plus i lucked out with my room mate as we had many things in common like music and auto racing/old cars .
If it was a dating app we would have been a 90% match except for he was a guy . :D

When I went to Shouldice, there were other patients there from around the world. Also a couple from other Canadian provinces. They were willing to pay out-of-pocket despite the procedure being covered by their provincial plan.

There were also a few from around here who were getting the procedure done again because their hospital procedure wasn't completely successful.

I’ve had 2. The first in the hospital as an out patient and the second at Shouldice. Shouldice was great experience and would recommend it.

Shouldice does only open surgeries with no mesh. Hasn't anyone here ever had laproscopic surgery with a mesh as a repair? From what I learned so far is that laproscopic will result in patients going home the same day and the recurrent treatments are much lower with a mesh than without one. But I would like to hear it from any actual patients here who have been through the experience. For those of you who did it at Shouldice, how long did you have to wait before you could monger again?

Actually, the bulk of their surgeries are redoing failed procedures from elsewhere.

Seriously dude, Shouldice is basically accepted as the best of the best. If you need it, stop asking questions here and get yourself booked. You won't get better care anywhere else and just accept what they tell you.

Shouldice has beautiful grounds with flower beds It’s rented out for wedding photos. Funny with guys and a few ladies in PJs on the grounds as well …

They used to rent the Royal York ballroom New Year’s eve, for patient surgical recheck. I never attended that. Post surgery, I asked the Shouldice surgeon, how soon I can go windsurfing. His reply, “let pain be your guide.”
