Any Guys Here Had Urological Procedures Done?

remarking on how my prostate was "huge".

It sounds like we may have had the same team, LOL.

They scoped me because an ultrasound showed a mass in my bladder. It turned out that the "mass" was my enlarged prostate protruding back into my bladder. Relief.

They immediately decided to scope me on the spot which caught me by surprise. After it was over, I told the nurse, "You guys don't dick around."

It's really not bad. I am a wimp and I didn't find it a big deal.

I was able to pee normally right away after the cysto. I was given painkillers in case needed but ended up not taking them. I was awake the whole time and the urologist talked me through the entire procedure and I could see the whole thing on a monitor.

Likewise. I wasn't even given any painkillers and didn't need any. I did take 1/2 of a valium prior just to relax me a bit.

The worst part of mine was he found a stone in the bladder. He said I can either destroy it with a laser or drag it out. He managed to drag it out without too much pain or damage. Occasionally I can't pee so I have become a master at inserting the catheter myself.

You may need a procedure called Turp if you can’t pee. It is because your prostatehas grown big enough to block peeing normally. It is a procedure done by urologist in hospital and you need to be in hospital for 1 to 2 days. A lot of men as they grow older, have this issue. Consult your urologist.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the recently developed capability to do a prostate biopsy thru the cystoscopy probe. That sounds really gruesome, but actually beats the other current option for a prostate biopsy. The Urologist can now give you the option of viewing the camera image on the screen during he procedure, but I didn't want to face that...

My urologist did mine in his office surgery. No warning so no time to panic, based on some lab results he said he needed to take a look. I didn’t really even know what he was about to do until he said “this may sting a little”. NO SHIT DOC!!!

Not sure if this counts. Once had a Q-tip inserted inside my ureter to collect a sample for STD testing.

Apparently there are newer procedures than turp including Rezum and Urolift which both are less invasive and have zero side effects in sexual function afterwards. Don’t know how many urologists are doing these up here in Canada which is why it would be great to see comments from any guys who have had these along with turps

The standard biopsy jabs you multiple times from the outside to get the tissue samples while to cystoscope goes up through the pecker - I really don’t know which one I would prefer but maybe the guys who have had both done would have a clearer picture of which route is less uncomfortable

Really? That wasn't mentioned in the brochure. I didn't have a lot of say in the matter. Not being able to pee much for about 3 years did quite a lot of damage. However. I was lucky. Not only did the folks at the hospital save my life, but I was still able to recover old age boners.

How was the turp recovery?

Piece of cake really. Never felt a moment of pain at any time. Only thing that happened was they wanted to kick me out of the hospital pronto. Like after one day. Pulled the catheter out and said go home. Had mucho blood clots which made it impossible to pee. Pissing out blood clots like Fifi Larue spitting pingpong balls out of her pussy. Had to go back in. Get another catheter and lay there for a couple of days until the blockage cleared. Normal sexual function, as in getting a strong erection took about 6 months.
