Actually many people in Iraq are happy to be free of Saddam hussein, and many people in Afghanistan are happy to be rid of the taliban. Back in WW2, I seem to recall pics of crowds in the netherlands waving US flags when US soldiers liberated towns there during the mishapful (coined this now) campaign there.

1. I'll take that under advisement

2. Ask the people in: Iraq and Afghanistan

I'm American, like many Americans, and like the United States. However, it does seem that many American minds are limited little spheres as well. I also believe it is in my best interest to move from this country in the near future. In the February 19-25th 2005 issue of the Economist there is an article titled, "Anti-Americanism - The view from abroad." In a way, it explains why I have the desire to leave.

I've never lived in Canada, but have enjoyed my visits. The people generally seem friendlier.

actually the friendliest people are red-staters. May not agree with their politics, but they are pleasant people. I live in DC, a very liberal city, and it's got some of the most vile people I have ever met in my entire life. People in Toronto didn't seem too overly friendly. Wasn't like being in Kansas City.

That is very true. I recall the same thing when the Iraq's got together and pulled down the statue of Sadham Hussein. Even the recent elections have given good results.

I guess since we hear the more negative stuff on news daily we are sometimes blinded to what really happens. After all, positive news is no news.

I pull back my statement. But, I will say that the American flag is generally tied to war more than other country flags except for maybe the UK....especially in comparison to the Canadian flag.

American flags are tied to war more often... reason being is they are one of the few countries that can win wars or put up a decent fight in recent history.

But this business in Iraq is such a farce. Bush family too chummy with the Saudi's otherwise any other President would have whacked them at the same time they did Afghanistan in. Afghanistan is Saudia Arabia minus the oil.

PS what is very ironic is that Osama Bin Laden was dispelled from Saudi Arabia after he angered the wrong people when he insisted that the US had no right going after Iraq in the first war and he wanted to run the show using "Arab" allies

You just answered your own question(s). Though not in your post, but rather your tone and attitude.
Ditto. Another ambassador of idiocy that makes the whole world hate the US. Some Americans should just shut the hell up.

Don't forget the British liked to use their colonials as cannon fodder in arenas where the british wouldn't send their own troops (ie Gallipoli, Dieppe (well, they sent them there))... My cousin is a marine, and at the time, the Iraqis were pretty happy to see US troops. Unfortunately his mom died, and he got sent home for good (which is fortunate for him), thought the British soldiers seemed to like the americans even more, because wherever us troops went, Pizza hut followed, and the British seem to like that garbage for some reason.

Gimme demonstrates his total ignorance at every opportunity. The american flag is not tied to war but to peace and liberty. If Gimme had it his way he would have let the Taliban continue with their vile ways while harboring Bin Laden and would have also allowed Saddam to continue with his veiled threats. I dare say the worl is a safer place without Saddam or The Talibamn and if Gimme doesn't think so I will personally pay for a one way ticket to either country for this terorist luving prick. If you have all noticed his posts he seems to know a lot about these subversive organizations. I will state it again he is either a recruiter or a member.

What is wrong with my tone or my attitude? Is it something to be ashamed of?
Pride in one's country is perfectly acceptable. Smug, arrogant, self centered posturing isn't. But you wouldn't get that. Tell you what proud man. Next time you go travel outside the US, assuming you realize there is more to the world than the US, make sure you sew on a big "I am proud to be American" label on all your luggage and clothing. Hell sew on the stars and stripes too. You should be proud of it, right? Report back here, when you get a lesson in humility.

LMFAO!!! You really know how to entertain don't you! Perhaps your highly educated mind could start putting in some quotes for all these allegations you keep making. Whoops, sorry, forgot, first you need to stop hiding and become a man. Why not use the money that you have so nicely volunteered for me and use it to go to Iraq/Afghanistan and fight? Whoops, forgot again, you got that big yellow streak down you back. You hide behind a computer, and hide behind the safety of the Canadian flag...how can I expect you to grow some balls and become a man? Suggestion, look at Escohorts signature GIF so you can see what you are missing! You must be a big dissapointment to your parents....your mom must be wishing everyday that she didn't open her legs!

Canada didn't exist during the War of 1812, those were British troops, and they burned much of Washington, DC. What you should have said was that a French/Canadian Militia was the only army to ever make an American army surrender.
Upper and Lower Canada existed in 1812 as a British Colony.

The troops that defended the colony were composed of British Reg. Forces, Canadian Militia, and probably most important of all - Aboriginal Warriors who sacrificed all and got very little in return.
