I as a proud canadian realize that we are basically at the U.S.'s mercy and I think you had better come to the same realization. The americans can control the value of their dollar any which way they desire. Do you actually believe the dollar's slide had anything to do with forces outside the continental U.S.? If you do you have a very naive world view. There truly is only one world superpower both monetarily and militarily and that is America. Hopefully that idiot we have in Ottawa as a Prime Minister will see the error of his ways and fall in line with the U.S. It is in our best interests.

Actually, the middle east controls a lot more of the dollar than you can imagine yennut. See how the oil cartel from the middle east controls the price of gas just by the whim of their pants? Also, the Euro is picking up speed much faster than the American Dollar. It is true that a lot of the global economy was based on the us dollar, but not anymore. We should do what Castro did in Cuba. Make the US dollar illegal to be used in barter...

Also as far as middle east oil goes. Who do u think benefits most from oil being at $53/barrel? For your information the U.S. produces 56% of the world oil production and consumes 63% and as a result is a net importer. However much of the oil it imports is from wholly owned american companies. Do the math genius and you'll see the high price of oil actually benefits the U.S. and acts as an impediment to development for developing countries. If u want to get into a discussion about the intricacies and ramifications of various oil prices you'll lose with me. Think before u speak or try to enlighten us with your so called knowledge of world economic implications.
