I have encountered an extreme amount of anti-american sentiment on this board and I am really curious as to why? It seems to me that most Canadians have an inferiority complex when dealing with Americans. I realize that most people around the world wish they could live in the U.S.A. and more importantly be an American citizen, but I wouldn't expect this from Canadians. Being an American and having lived in Toronto for the past 3 years I find it really amusing how Canadians get all defensive about their country. The first step in getting over this defensiveness is to realize Canada's place in the world and learn to accept it. Canada has rode America's coattails, probably since its confederation, and has done very well for itself doing this, but its citizenery must accept that Canada's sphere of influence is limited. As a matter of fact Canada does not even control its own natural resources, as most are controlled by American conglomerates. Canada really only exists at the whim of America. If we really wanted total control, who would stop us. Learn to live with it and thank America don't disparage it. I know the truth hurts!
This kind of arrogance reminds me so much of the attitude of the British (I'm a Brit) during the latter days of its empire. And look what happened to that one! IMO, the demise of the American Empire is upon us, and GWB will only hasten its downfall.

Canadians really make me laugh. Your arguments are so nonsensical that they border on the absurd. Canada is nothing more than a pee on in the world picture. You look south all the time for our approval and when we don't grant it you look upon us as SOB's. As for protecting you 24/7, if you don't think we do you are really out of touch with reality. America is the beacon from which all light shines and even illuminates Canada to some degree. What is truly a shame is that Canadians cannot accept this fact and dutifully pay homage. Britain and several other European countries are falling in line and hopefully Canada will come to its senses in due time. God Bless America!

This is so insane it makes me think we've been taken in by a gimmick.

I think you keep proving the point over an over again on this thread, and all the other threads. Everyone is complaining about you, as you can see:

https://terb.cc/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=78490

BUT, it proves the American way. Always go in for a confrontation. Shoot to kill, then consider your actions. You dumb MF, get off the board! You`ve done a good job of getting everyone to respond to you. Now go get off or something. But if you don`t like us Canadians that much, then get off this Canadian board!

Get over yourself. The last time I checked the U.S. wasn't the centre of the universe.

Lately it's been the U.S. looking at us and when we don't follow suit we're looked upon as S.O.B's.

Please forgive us for not bending over often enough. I'll see to it that Goober gives a blow job to each and every American that goes past London.

What is wrong with my tone or my attitude? Confidence and being outspoken breeds success. As our President George W. Bush so eloquently said "In Texas we call my swagger, walking." When you are the best why should you try to hide it. Is it something to be ashamed of?
First of all, as someone has already mentioned, confidence and arrogance are two totally different things. You can be supremely confident in your own abilities w/ out the need to flaunt and shove it down people's throats. People can be humble and confident at the same time. Obviously that concept is lost upon you.

Secondly, anyone who would associate the words 'eloquently' w/ George W. Bush shouldn't be expected to be taken very seriously. I don't even think his own children would ever consider their father to be able to do or say anything 'eloquently'.

Lastly, you asked a subjective question and people gave you their opinions. If you're not prepared to hear the answers, then don't ask the question to begin with.

Gimme. Clinton was the biggest disgrace to our nation that I have ever had the displeasure of living through. The only trade-off is that his 8 years of hell all but ensures "right" victory for years. Fittingly he's good friends with Chretien: Man you talk about two peas in a pod.
americanson, I can understand where you come from. For me, it was a comparison to today and 4 years ago. I'd gladly say that I am happy with the US if Clinton was around compared to the surrounding Bush years.

D.M. You are referring to the war of 1812 I assume. Yes when we fought the Brits seeing that Canada never gained it's independence until 1867. BTW a rainstorm saved Washington during the "Battle Of Baltimore" and a young soldier/lawyer wrote a poem about it. Maybe you've heard it: It's called the star-spangled banner. The Treaty Of Ghent ended it and the decisive battle was the Battle Of New Orleans when the U.S. was lead by General Andrew Jackson now on the $20.oo and the 7th U.S. president.
Actually I was refering to 1812 and the Fenian Invasion of 1866. An invasion by Americans, at least, if not the American gov't per se.

yennut is the best parody of an American since Americanson!

There's no way that yennut is real, because such clumsy stereotypes of the Ugly American only exist deep within the Canadian Inferiority Complex.

Right?

Right?

Actually, the hilarious thing is that people are actually offended by this guy.

Idiots.
