LEmieux, Recchi, Malkin and Crosby....some offensive guns there, nothing else though. They'll have to score 12 goals to win!! I'm looking forward to see how he does. Will this be what it takes to get Pittsburgh a new arena?? We'll see.

Crosby - saving more than just the Pens!

Being a Penguin fan for all of my life - I can actually start showing myself in public during the winter months again. Huzzah!

All I need is to get my hands on a couple of tickets to the home opener in the 'burgh and life would be complete....

Well the Penguins certainly wont be signing top FA D-men left, right, and center. As an analyst said today, the Penguins have 6 #6 D-men, unless that changes, and I dont think it will drastically, this team will still stink.

Perhaps now they can get a new arena built. I like the new agreement not so much to save non hockey markets, but markets like Pittsburgh. It was a shame watching them give up huge talent for zero. Craig Patrick is a well respected hockey guy and I'm sure he understands scoring will not be his main problem.

Btw not a Penguins fan... havent been interested in hockey since the North Stars left Minnesota.

He says his heart is in Montreal.....and thats what he wanted

oh i don't know about that one... he seems like the kind of guy that means what he says when he says he would be happy to play for any team...

Lemieux once said it would be nice to play in Montreal too... he did quite well in Pittsburgh, never asking to be traded and quite content there... i think Sidney will follow same suit... he is quite a classy guy...

stop trying to make everyone out to be Eric Lindros's and Alexandre Daigle's...

Considering Pittsburgh has 7 total players under contract, they have Tarnstrom, Jackman, Fleury, Recchi, Fata, Kraft and someone else, it is impossible to have 6 #6 defencemen as you quoted some analyst saying. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/story?id=2106450&num=0

i believe rico fata's brother drew will be signed this week... he's a defenceman. he starred for the St. Mike's in the 'O'

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him pursue a Canadian team as soon as he's able. Of course, that won't be for several years, but from what I've seen he's the kind of patriotic Canadian kid that we're growing up here these days. I would never count him out of a Leafs or Habs jersey.

While I was disappointed to see him go to Pittsburgh (kill that franchise already), it would have been much worse to see him go to a Columbus or Nashville or, even worse, to a west coast team where we'd rarely see him. At least he's in our relative time zone.

Well. he said about a 100 times that he's always been a Mtl fan and was hoping to go there....but you"re right, he's a classy guy and will do what he has to do.
Anyway.....the Habs will pick 5th......there is some good talent this year.

Due to the NHL`s new moronic unbalanced schedule, half the fans in the league will only get to see him play live once every three years.

Great way to promote your stars Gary. You`re a genius.

This could be one of the best things to happen to him. The Pens have a few super young talents in Malkin, Fleury, Malone, Whitney and Orpik, and having Crosby play along side Mario will help him a lot. Mario will guide him on and off the ice in ways no one else in the NHL can.

Considering Mario`s "alleged" lack of character in a hotel room with Dan Quinn and two girls in `93, I`m not sure he`s the best role model for Crosby to follow as far as off-ice conduct goes.

People learn from their mistakes, I think Mario is one of those players, and if anything, that might help Crosby as well. Anyone hear the rumors still flying around of the Penguins moving to Winnipeg :)

Even in the intreview today when they discussed him going to pitts......he was quickly correct them and say well nothing is official yet.

Pop Quiz, HotShot(S):
Who was Pittsburgh's 2nd First Round Draft Pick in the '84 Draft(after Lemiuex, of course), where was he from, and what happened to him?
Hint: His younger brother is still active in Europe, and ALWAYS pops up at the Spengler Cup.
