How many so called superstars have folded up like a cheap tent once they hit the ice? Lindros was suppose to be the next coming of Christ. But after the fact we all learned he can't take a hit. And now we have Crosby as the next Great One. Whats he proven? Nothing. I'll take a Bertuzzi or a Thorton, or any other proven player to help me build a franchise long before i waste my time on someone has hasn't skated against the best of the best in the NHL.

We'll see what hes made of come October and the rest of the season.

Considering Mario`s "alleged" lack of character in a hotel room with Dan Quinn and two girls in `93, I`m not sure he`s the best role model for Crosby to follow as far as off-ice conduct goes.

Mario and Quinn were certainly good golfing partners that is for sure!

If you'd rather build your franchise around one of those players rather than Crosby, then have fun playing in mediocrity. Neither of those players have turned out to be franchise players. In fact, both have been disappointments in one respect or another.

There's a reason Crosby is a guaranteed lock to go #1. And it's not wild speculation. Every GM in the league would pick him without question. Obviously they know something you don't (or won't admit). ;)

Remember someone named Alexandre Daigle? When it comes to sports, nothing is guaranteed. Just ask Ryan Leaf, Brian Taylor, Tony Mandrich, Dave Chyzowski, etc.

It is possible for Pittsburgh to have 6 #6 D-men, its because they all stink! thats the point!

PS I think it was Glenn Healy who said it, because he made fun of Fata's -46

The biggest advantage owners have in picking Crosby is hes a rookie. So the team who picks him only has to pay him the max at most according to the new CBA. Unlike with 'Tuzzi and Joe or anyone else that tickles your fancy you'll have to come up with alot green backs, up front. I hope Crosby does rip it up in the NHL. It'll be good for everyone.

And Bertuzzi is a franchise player despite the fact that hes a bonehead. You watch Bertuzzi in another year or two. Once hes fully matured and learned how to use his brain hes going to be the best power forward.

Just not with Vancouver...unfortunately.

Wherever work requires me....
Methinks Crosby will end up in Montreal once he is unrestricted. I believe that will be when he is 27 under the new CBA. But then again the players can open up the deal after four years, so who knows....

Bodger doesn't have a little brother, but Belanger does and it is Chris Belanger who shows up at the Spengler Cup. http://www.hockeycanada.ca/e/teams/mens/national/2004-05/rosters/can_spengler.html

But Belanger was Pittsburgh's 3rd pic in the 1st round, so you have to get you pop quiz question correct before you ask it.[/QUOTE]

Oops! Forgot about Bodger after several too many 'Wobbly Pops'. Look at some of the future Hall of Famers selected after Roger! I guess Draft Position really doesn't predict future success (although, in fairness, Roger did suffer a pretty serious back injury with Pittsburgh that he never really recovered from). I haven't seen Roger in 15 years, but I saw Chris last Summer at the Sundowner chatting up a Czech dancer.
Cheers

People say Pittsburgh is going to have all this money, but remember, teams are allowed to dump contracts over 6 days, so other teams are going to have as much money as Pittsburgh to sign some of these players you think they might be getting.
