A much better show than last week... since it seems others have already weighed in, here's my four cents...
Anthony - Perfectly inocuous performance, although I guess we can expect an Elton John song from him next. He seems to like gay male vocalists--Neil Sedaka, George Michael.
Carrie - Wow. She sang the hell out of that Heart song (a much underrated group, imo). She totally rocked. And she looked good too.
Scott - Groan. Another rendition of 'Against All Odds'. It seems this song gets done every season, and this season, twice already. I wish Scott would do a Christopher Cross song, given they are both fat guys with sweet voices. I think that would be perfect... 'Arthur's Theme', or even 'Sailing'.
Bo - The cynic in me thinks it was a shrewdly calculated move to go mellow this week, and 'Time in a Bottle' is one of those sensitive guy love songs which could boost his popularity with the ladies, since that seems to be Constantine's angle.
Nikko - Geez, 900 some odd number 1 songs to choose from and you choose one by Sisqo??! Still, I thought he did well, and he should be safe for at least a week or two. As Simon said about RJ Helton in Season 1 (anyone remember him?), "You can sing, but there's boy-band good, and there's American Idol good".
Vonzell - Nice perky performance, but I still think she is a middle of the packer.
Constantine - Gawd, what a goofball. It is tough to sing a song like 'I Think I Love You' and do it without irony. I don't think he pulled it off, even though I am willing to believe he legitimately likes the song.
Nadia - 'Time after Time' is an awesome song, but I thought the rocked out arrangement of it was all wrong. It is very much a love song, and I always thought Cyndi Lauper's plaintive version of it was perfect (I also think Cyndi is way underrated). I didn't mind Nadia's hair so much, but she lost momentum tonight.
Mikalah - Toast. She started off offkey, and usually when the judges say a performer was pitchy, I don't necessarily know what they mean. But Mikalah was way off for about the first 30 seconds. She's gone.
Anwar - I totally don't remember anything about this guy's performance. I think he has built enough goodwill that he is in no danger of being voted off, but this is two mediocre performances in a row.
Jessica - When I realized Jessica was last, I half expected her to show up showing off the big guns again, but her outfit was somewhat subdued, although there was a bit of cleavage. I thought she did a good job. She is also a sexy chick, despite being a little on the heavy side.
My fearless prediction for tomorrow: Mikalah goes home, and she, Constantine, and Nikko are the bottom three.
