Pretty much agree with Spode's show breakdown.
But I have to say it again... the opening medley was an embarrassment. I like the Beach Boys. I do. I saw them back in 1976. And for God's sake, let's leave them back there.
Then, about 90 minutes of absolutely useless filler. This was a shameless display on Fox's part to sell airtime. Luckily I TiVo'd it and was able to fast forward through most of the crap.
I liked some of the end performances very much. Carrie and Rascal Flatts--very nice. Billy Preston and Vonzell--very nice. George Benson and the fat fuck and the shortstop's son--only good when George started to sing. He is probably pushing 60, and still sounds better than both of them combined. Babyface and Lindsay and Mikhala--Mikhala irritated me with her "stylings", I thought Babyface and Lindsay sounded good. Geez, that Lindsay is hot. Seeing her again saddened me that she was eliminated so early and I didn't get to lust after her week after week. Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bo--well, you knew they were going to do 'Sweet Home Alabama', right? It still was fabulous.
Not to toot my own horn, but I feel pleased that Carrie won, as I predicted. I actually think Bo is more talented, and is probably a better singer, but Carrie is the American Idol type, with the blonde hair and country girl charm and all. As someone else said, Bo is probably better off not winning. It will be interesting to see how Carrie fares in the music industry. Kelly Clarkson is really the only Idol to have any kind of success, and I'd say she did it in spite of her Idol fame, not because of it.
