I enjoyed tonight's show... liked the three song format... I thought it moved along quite nicely.
Vonzell - Honestly, I thought she butchered that Dionne Warwick song. Very pitchy in the beginning, just not enough power to really sell the chorus. 'Chain of Fools' is a great song, but I thought Vonzell's version was just okay. It is tough to do Aretha. I thought she nailed 'On the Radio'. I thought she sounded a lot like Donna Summer actually.
Bo - I was skeptical, but I thought he did a credible job on 'Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me'. If I recall, Clay Aiken did that song too when he was on the show. Bo's voice sounded nice on the 2nd number, but I didn't really get into it. And I agree with Spode--the 3rd song was just a moronic choice by a really stupid broad.
Carrie - I don't know whether the judges hear exactly the same thing as the TV audience, but I thought Carrie was very good tonight. Her voice always sounds good. Her version of 'Cryin' sounded pretty, but I would agree she needed help with the interpretation. You have to sound like you are in agony to really deliver that song. When I heard her second song was Air Supply, I was wary, but she did kind of a power pop version of it, and it didn't suck. She finally showed a little personality on the last song, the Shania Twain number, but she still seems like she can't seem to really engage the audience.
I disagree that it was the Bo show tonight, and feel that Carrie was just as good. IMO, if Carrie had any kind of charisma, she'd be running away with this competition. I agree with Bandit. Based on performance, Vonzell should go. But you never know what those wacky voters will do.
