I enjoyed tonight's show... liked the three song format... I thought it moved along quite nicely.

Vonzell - Honestly, I thought she butchered that Dionne Warwick song. Very pitchy in the beginning, just not enough power to really sell the chorus. 'Chain of Fools' is a great song, but I thought Vonzell's version was just okay. It is tough to do Aretha. I thought she nailed 'On the Radio'. I thought she sounded a lot like Donna Summer actually.

Bo - I was skeptical, but I thought he did a credible job on 'Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me'. If I recall, Clay Aiken did that song too when he was on the show. Bo's voice sounded nice on the 2nd number, but I didn't really get into it. And I agree with Spode--the 3rd song was just a moronic choice by a really stupid broad.

Carrie - I don't know whether the judges hear exactly the same thing as the TV audience, but I thought Carrie was very good tonight. Her voice always sounds good. Her version of 'Cryin' sounded pretty, but I would agree she needed help with the interpretation. You have to sound like you are in agony to really deliver that song. When I heard her second song was Air Supply, I was wary, but she did kind of a power pop version of it, and it didn't suck. She finally showed a little personality on the last song, the Shania Twain number, but she still seems like she can't seem to really engage the audience.

I disagree that it was the Bo show tonight, and feel that Carrie was just as good. IMO, if Carrie had any kind of charisma, she'd be running away with this competition. I agree with Bandit. Based on performance, Vonzell should go. But you never know what those wacky voters will do.

Hey everybody has to be somebody :D nymphomaniac raises her worth in my eyes from what I thought she was...... a prosac sucking ex-teeny-bopper no talent singer.

1. Bo - by a mile . He proved he has range and tone in the second song.
2. Carrie - Crying was great - the Air Supply song was ok and the Shania song sucked - especially the beginning . Relies too much on belting the long sustained notes .Can't "feel" the song.
3. Vonzel - a credible 3rd but only sounds good doing disco or belting the occasional big note that falls within her range .

Today's odds on the AI contestants:

Bo Bice 10-11

Carrie Underwood 11-10

Vonzell Solomon 6-1

Harold is now the favorite, just ahead of Carrie. Carrie was the favorite up to this point. I guess the oddsmakers really liked Bo's performance last night.

Well that was rather disappointing tonight. I loooooooooooooooovvvee Baby V. She's so cute and great positive attitude. I didn't sense any fakeness about her and she seems like a real sweetheart. But it is quite acceptable as the Carrie pundits like Carrie just as much as this Bo pundit likes Bo.

So Next week will be a nice interlude into the main event of Idol Season.

No doubt, no doubt. But she was the right one to go. If you go back to the beginning of the season, it seems inevitable it would come down to Bo and Carrie. Anwar, Constantine, Nadia, Vonzell... they all took a run at it, but I am satisfied with this final two. To echo my sentiments of last week, I would be cool if either won, but I am rooting a little more for Carrie. She needs it more than Bo.

 How do you choose between Bo and Carrie. They have different styles, and music, but either is a good choice.
By the way, did anyone notice Constantine already has a CD out.

Bo's acapella performance was mesmerizing....

that will stay in the voter's minds and he will win...unless he absolutely sucks in the final show...

I predict that Bo and Carrie will get married, and produce many little American Idols....she'll dye her hair black, get some piercings and get arrested for possession of pot... :D

The results show should be awesome. They're bringing back Kelly Clarkson, Rueben Studdard, Cory Clark, Fantasia Barrino, and the Malfetta Twins.

Brian Dunkleman will also be co-hosting the finale with Ryan.

I say Carrie wins by 2418 votes.

I wish voting was open to bi-sexual canadians, such as myself. But then I guess they'd have to call it North American Idol.

The return of Brian Dunkleman is less than a day away.

I just realised I'm biased for Bo

Well one more night and and my television is all about to come to an end in one fell swoop. I am really feeling the blues and tonights show...well it was kind of a dissappointment for me. First of all I really haven't found Carrie appealing since she did the Heart song Alone, and tonight I found her uninspiring, for me at least. I was also rather disappointed in Bo, but for different reasons. First song not that great. Second song was great, but why did he pick Vehicle again? I don't understand it. He should have picked Whipping Post. That was what launched him into the frontrunner position originally. He did a great job on the second original song as well. But all my criticism is for not as I just realised I'm biased for Bo, because I don't necessarily like country, but I love that lazy southern rock. It does the soul good.

Anyway Carrie will probably win because of Simon's comments at the end. It may sway a large part of the vote.

Canadian Idol Starts next week. WHO'S WITH US?!?

PS this signature line is fucking killing me.

I thought tonight's final competition was a nice entertaining finish. I think Bo and Carrie are frighteningly evenly matched.

Original Song 1, that is, the one Bo started the show with. I'm sorry, but the original songs they write for the AI finals are always really sappy and lame. This one was no exception. Harold sounded okay, but the song is just dreary. I thought Carrie did a slightly better version it, and it seemed like Carrie has learned how to be a little more expressive in her singing, and not just belt out everything.

Original Song 2 - This song was a little better, but still not very good. It was close, but I'd say Bo did a better job with it. Considering he is supposed to be the rocker guy, he does teary ballads pretty well. Carrie sang it well, but I think she oversang it a bit, sacrificing emotion for pure power.

Favorite Song - As usual, I disagree with Spode. I think 'Vehicle' was the perfect song for Harold to reprise on tonight's show. One, because it was more recent, and therefore more fertile in viewers' minds. Two, it really is a rocking song. Three, it is the perfect song for Bo's voice.

I was really hoping Carrie would sing Heart's 'Alone' again, as I felt that was really her signature performance of the season. But I understood why she choose 'Independence Day'. She's the country girl, so she had to do a country song, as that's what her fans want. Since I don't really understand country music, I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she sang it very well.

This is a tough one to call, and in previous seasons, everyone pretty much knew who was going to win. I suspect Carrie will win, but that's only because I think a) there are tons of country fans out there, b) she's a cute girl, and America loves cute girls, and c) boys will vote for a cute girl, and girls will also vote for a cute girl. I don't know if boys will vote for Harold.

Simon's comment at the end... as usual, Simon chose his words very carefully. He didn't say Carrie had won. He said Carrie had done enough to win, meaning she had held her own and not crumbled, and therefore not given anyone reason not to vote for her.

If the country fans like Carrie, it won't be for her performance of Independance Day. I actually think she sang it better the first time, and even then it wasn't that good. Don't get me wrong, I think Carrie is a great singer, but she did not outsing Bo. At this point, with as good as they both are, I have a feeling people aren't really going to vote based on how they sang tonight. Their minds were made up before the show even started.

I just wish I could actually vote. I've been trying all 3 numbers for Bo for 3 1/2 hours, it's busy.

That's right Lil'Miss you can vote. But I guess its too late for it now. I'm with you in spirit though. GO BO!

Homonger, if the only disagreement we have about Bo's song selection and who the eventual winner is thats not too bad. Your comments and breakdowns of the show this season have been a pleasure to read. Yours along with Jamaica_Luvr, Rusty and let's not forget when Lil'Miss taught me how to look past a person's physical appearance and see the inner ugliness of Scott Savol. Jk LM.

Any Montreal hobbiests , or even some Toronto guys ( she came here alot)notice the similarity in appearance between Carrie and a French Canadian sp from Montreal who uses the name Coralie ? Coralie is a little older and a bit better looking but the resemblance is definitely there.

Song selection was average at best , which surprised me . A toss-up but I think Bo should win over Kelly II or Kelly Lite .

Yes, I'd say we have agreed far more than not, so I don't know why I said that.

Lil' Miss, if you say Carrie didn't sing 'Independence Day' all that well, I am in no position to argue. I have no ear for country music.

Train, I'm glad I am not the only one who thinks Carrie is a blonder, slightly cuter version of Kelly Clarkson. Although I have to say, Kelly looks very hot as a blonde in her latest video.

I hate how every season the judges slam the original songs. That is something that is beyond the control of the singers. You would think for as huge as American Idol has become they could draw from a thousand songwriters for two of the best songs ever. The show would benefit from the songwriters they do choose not writing cliche, bland, meaningless crap.

I also wondered last night why Bo didn't sing Whipping Post. For as awesome as I think he is, that was still by far his best performance.

Carrie is boring, and sounds like every other half ass country singer in Nashville. I'm not a fan of country, but I married one, and I can think of a dozen female country vocalists who can sing circles around Carrie. Bo is much more unique. I really hope he wins.

Thanks Spode...nice chatting and debating with all you guy/girls as well.

If it counts for anything, Carrie hit a lot of "flat" notes...and like most female singers, has trouble projecting in the lower range of her voice...some of the lyrics were buried in the audio mix...although..even Bo showed his nervousness a teeny bit...he hit some notes a shade out of tune, but immediately slide them into tune, or started to sing with vibrato to make it less noticeable.

Does America care? Probably not...but Clive Davis knows who will be the bigger star...Bo...
