I will give you ANOTHER example...

Just the other day I was walking home from the bar late at night, and I came across two women having a total cat fight in the alley. One was grabbing the hair of the other and kicking and punching her. I broke it up. The one doing all the punching was screaming and yelling that the other one had stolen her purse, and had the purse in her hand to prove it.

Here is what actually happened:

The two women had practically the identical purse, and the "thief" had walked out of the bar with the wrong one by mistake, leaving her own purse behind. The attacker was too emotional to stop and find out what happened and decided to take some vigilante justice out on the woman who had tried to "steal" her purse.

A simple "hey, you have my purse" would have got an "Oh shit, where's mine?" back instead of this stupid fight.

THAT is the sort of thing vigilante justice will produce. Now up the ante and add the irrational emotions that go along with "protecting" your children and you will see a lot of innocent people dead.

I don't have kids and can understand, or at least, can try to understand the pain inflicted on the kid and his family.
