Here's something I heard from a VERY reliable source: The night before the the last playoff game in Ottawa, Spezza, Heatly, and Emery were out til 3:00AM - - - get this: with some ladies playing strip darts. There's dedication to your team mates, coaches, and above all - your fans...........

If it were me I'd trade them all.

oh, ya, flame away.
Is that even that late? Say the Sens finish their game at 10:00 PM. By the time they ride the bike, visit the trainer, deal with the media, shower, change, get out of the rink and meet up at whatever bar, it's got to be somewhere between 12:00 AM and 1:00 AM.

I can't sleep if I go to the gym and run on the treadmill for 30 minutes at 9:00 PM. How amped up is a pro athlete after a game?

So it wasn't the night of the game, but that is the routine their body is used to.

Not to mention that they had at least 16 hours to rest and get ready for the game the next day.

Pro athletes are just people. So what if they want to go out and blow off a little steam now and then.

Face it...the Sens took a ride into oblivion on Ray Emerys' giant fucking ego. What followed included things like their two highest paid guys, Spezzy baby and Heater going into the tank when it counted the most.

I will say that Alfie tried his hardest to turn it around and was the best leader he could be, but you need a supporting cast unless you are Mark Messier. Good 'ol Spez and Heater were off someplace counting money when they should have been kicking Emerys' fucking ass and helping out their Captain.

Last year was an abberation....the Sens will not see another Cup Final for many, many years.......the Leafs will see one before they do.

Spezzy baby is a fucking goof. Perhaps that crooked "I've just been creased by a two by four and knocked senseless" grin will be retired along with his papier mache balls.......

Damn, I am eloquent when I want to be!!

It is guaranteed that Eugene will not sit still for the disaster. (unless of course he is a closet Leafs fan) There will be changes. Redden's coke habit is old news...there was some other guy they dumped a year ago who was the dealer. Wayne & his nose will be gone. Emery's already been dealt with.

Interesting to see Eugene's comment last week on HNIC about wanting Gary Roberts so badly last year. Funny that Roberts would blow away playing for a true contender last year. Maybe Gary doesn't want the Cup so bad after all.

Changes will happen for sure. Eugenes fans are not the Pavlovian dogs that GTA residents are. It may take a year or two but you will not see Sens fans putting out their money for the shit that Leafs fab do year after year.

So let me get this straight, a back-up goalie (he was injured to start the year and didn't play the last 2 months of the season) destroyed the team's chemistry and caused them to suck the pipe in the playoffs?

A bit of a stretch in logic, don't you think? I'd say there are much deeper problems with that team. Like a lack of leadership by everyone in- and outside of the locker room...

And they've now got all sorts of money tied up in the wrong types of players - looks like another Tampa Bay situation, minus the Stanley Cup title.

This makes absolutely no sense. Who's Wayne? Who's the "some other guy"? Emery's been dealt with? How? By giving him a big contract and then vowing to get rid of him one year into it? (Oooooh!)

BTW, Gary Roberts had nothing to do with the non-trade that Muckler didn't make and Pittsburgh is a better long-term contender than Ottawa, which is why he re-signed there as a FA.

Sens fans were the same "Pavlovian dogs" when the team was losing and drafting Alexandre Daigle and Alexei Yashin, so please take off your blinders and climb down from your shetland pony. :)

The only things I disagree with are the Sens waiting longer than the Laughs to see a cup final, and you being eloquent. That said, my point remains...YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE FUCKING PLAYOFFS TO BEAT ANY OTHER TEAM WHO HAS...three years running now

Yashin has stated that he wants to come back and play in Ottawa. Seems his parents still live in the area and he loves the city. Question is would he be welcome back?

Agree with almost all of this, but when you have a guy who is late for practice 4 times that the public knew of, fights with his teammates, doesnt work hard when he does practice, and cant keep his off ice life out of the media you have a problem. Back up or not. The leadership, of which Spezzy baby and Heater are SUPPOSED to be included, should have had that whole situation in hand without it getting out of the dressing room, but they all turned their backs and let it into the media and left the coach largely unsupported to try to put his pinkie in the dyke.

Can you imagine how a couple of guys like Gary Roberts and say Brendan Shanahan, or Jarome Iginla would have handled this mess? or a few years back, Mark Messier? Wouldnt have made its' way out of the dressing room, and that piece of self important shit Emery would have been a team player.

Actually...I'm a Habs fan. I had to put the sentance in caps because you didn't seem to understand the concept of making the playoffs...no wonder since the Laughs haven't done so in three years...

But that was my point. Management, coaches and the 19+ other players did nothing. Emery was one person - he should have never been allowed to have that sort of affect on an entire team. It was an organizational failure and I contend that there were MUCH bigger problems with the Senators than just Ray "Scapegoat" Emery.

We talk the same here. I was pointing out that the malaise was triggered by Emery. This triggered the emergence of all the other problems on the team.

Sorry, I don't agree. It was triggered by Bryan Murray's coup d'etat on John Muckler followed by huge contracts being handed out like candy and a lack of any positive and substantive changes to a flawed team.

They didn't have the grit, toughness or leadership on a team that sorely needed it and didn't add any.

Like I said, it's asinine to try and blame a backup goalie for the team's misfortunes. It doesn't explain Heatley, Spezza and Redden disappearing when the team needed them most. It didn't cause there to be no secondary scoring. And it didn't make the team show no heart.

Andy Moog, Bill Ranford or Chico Resch didn't make their teams crash and burn. Buffalo and Detroit always played hard, even when Hasek was acting up or faking injuries.

If Emery was that big a distraction, they could have sent him to the minors, cut him or scared him straight. Instead they let him stay around, business as usual.

Nope, I don't blame Ray Emery, I blame Bryan Murray and the so-called "leadership" on the Sens.

Emery has little to do with what's wrong in Ottawa...

it's just a distractor to the real problem... Wade Redden.

I still can't believe that they would keep Redden over Chara. Redden is a solid defenceman but he is not even close to Chara. Chara is an awesome force. Chara would have helped greatly for the Sens in the playoffs. Fisher is a big part of that team and he is probably the most fearless player on the Sens. They really missed him in the playoffs. Say all you want about Emery and his horrible attitude but all in all Gerber was not very good.
