One of my fav r&b/soul groups. So underrated. This gem is from 1980.

The Whispers had two #1 R&B hits. Rock Steady (1987) and this one from 1978. If this doesn't get you to groove something's wrong.

This one is my ATF Whispers track. I posted the video because my favorite member Nicholas Caldwell (the dude in the red jacket) really shows his showman character. RIP Nick.

Thanks to some of our old heads here (ogibowt, xmontrealer off the top of my head) I started listening to some 60's soul. It's a bit hit or miss for me but this one is definitely a HIT. Billy Stewart's rendition of Summertime (1966)

The creative artistry here is really ahead of its time. I dig how he keeps tossing the microphone from hand to hand as well.

The Floaters - Float On (1977). Group spun off from the Detroit Emeralds who gained prominence in the early 1970's. Love this track

NOLA Records I assume was based out of New Orleans, LA. I live both those Parker tracks but definitely partial to The Scratch. Great vibe. Ya pretty rare that a white kid in the 60's would be buying up records like this. Kudos to you.

Dunno if anyone remembers Merlin, he was a Canadian artist who had a minor hit with this song.

Had the pleasure of catching Michael Franti and Spearhead live a few years ago and it was an incredibly fun show.

Shad K is an incredibly talented rapper and his indie pop side project Your Boy Tony Braxton produced quite a few gems as well.

And let's not forget an example of Shad's hip-hop.

And a list of Canada's best rappers wouldn't be complete without Cadence Weapon.
