This song was originally recorded and written by Jimmy Reed in 1959. I bought his album and he was such a a great blues singer that I really got into blues and R&B music.

Freda Payne was a looker, wow. I didn't know that she was also married to singer Gregory Abbott. She was 34 and he was only 22 when they married in 1976. This was her big hit and its a glorious song, Band of Gold, released in 1970.

Stephanie Mills and Teddy Pendergrass did a couple of duets together in the early 80's. Great chemistry and two powerful voices

I'm pretty sure I first heard this on a disco 8 track my parents had in the car. What I find quite amazing that the singer, Dan Hartman, was the writer and lead vocalist for the song "Free Ride" by the Edgar Winter Group. Quite a divergence to disco

Fast forward a few years to the Streets of Fire soundtrack. Dan gave us this gem.

On a side note that movie had a pretty stellar cast - Michael Pare, Diane Lane, Willem Dafoe, Amy Madigan, Rick Moranis, Bill Paxton, Robert Townsend, Mykelti Williamson, Ed Begley Jr.....
