What does it matter? That leaves Demott as the "Last of the Mohicans". What's taking so long?
And, the Maple Leafs have 2 R.F.A.'s remaining, not one.
Start of season is 2.5-3.5 months away.
Dermott's arbitration hearing isn't for a while yet.

Jesper Lindgren was also suppose to be an up and comer and now he is gone.Does anybody know what the plans for Lehtonen are?
I hear how good he is but his name doesn't come up much in terms of where he fits in.
Which indicates to me that Dermott has slipped on their depth chart.Jesper Lindgren was also suppose to be an up and comer and now he is gone.
Getting back to Demott,
"Dubas will now turn to the remaining two restricted free agents left that need new contracts; defenceman Travis Dermott, and winger prospect Joey Anderson who was acquired from the Devils as a oart of the return for Andreas Johnsson. I wouldn’t be surprised if one or both contracts are announced today. Dubas doesn’t have much room under the salary cap left so these contracts are essentially fait accompli."
Could be. I think the plan is to bring Sandin up to the Leafs, so maybe Dermott is dispensable. Or maybe, Dubas is fed up with being accused of overpaying his players and eating up cap space needlessly. Who the heck knows with the Leafs.Which indicates to me that Dermott has slipped on their depth chart.
Whether I agree or disagree with Dubas, I do believe he's a very calculating guy.Could be. I think the plan is to bring Sandin up to the Leafs, so maybe Dermott is dispensable. Geez, the clock is ticking.Have the Leafs signed any of their 2020 draft picks yet?
Also, what is happening to Timothy Liljegren (right shooting D-man)?Which indicates to me that Dermott has slipped on their depth chart.
Getting back to Lehtonen, he's been one of the top D, if not the top D in the KHL, Lindgren hasn't proved nearly as much.
One year at $875,000. Not a lot for an RFA.Wondering if Dermott still has shoulder issues that are a fly in the ointment at the negotiating table? He was not the same when he came back this season, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear he played a lot if not all of the season nursing a poorly healed shoulder.
Ha, ha, I actually saw Thornton interviewed on TV a couple of days ago. The beard is gone (at least for now).
I think these are good signings...Joe Thornton is not going to have 70 points or anything like that but he’s well respected, his teammates are going to love him and fans will too.I'm only focusing on one hockey thread so I don't know what is happening in other threads.
Dubas signed Anderson and Hutchinson for just slightly more than league minimum as he did with Thornton and Dermott.

The Toronto Maple Leafs Should Trade Travis Dermott
The Toronto Maple Leafs upgraded their defense via free agency which means Travis Dermott is now expendable and the team should trade him.editorinleaf.com
Question: Will Robertson and Sandin mak the big club? With Joey A. now signed to three years extension, w first two years two-way in nature, no one should expect to see to much of him up with the big club for a couple of seasons barring significant injuries. Could be a good add to the Marlies though..
I think they will...tougher for Robertson with the veterans they signed.Question: Will Robertson and Sandin mak the big club?
