I look at it this way, I support this team because this team represents my city and hockey happens to be my favourite sports. This team has been poorly managed since 67 by different management/ownership groups and individuals and every time non fans or haters would bring that up to insult the team and it’s fans.

However, each era should be judged individually for their failure or success as each era is totally unrelated to another. This Shanahan era should not be blamed for for the failures of the past management groups. I would equate that to those Americans who are Trump haters, you just don’t abandon your country or give up your citizenship just because you think your country is in the wrong hands.

Each ownership/management group is just a care taker and my loyalty is solely on the team. That’s why being the hard core fan I am, I can be very critical of the team management/coaches/players when I see fit because I don’t owe these people any blind faith.

The only FA on your list they should look at is Dermott.
Dermott is actually a RFA but Dubas has a habit of paying RFA's the same as UFA's.

move up from 15th pick to get right shooting defenseman Brayden Schneider of the WHL. Tough farm kid from western Canada with tons of upside.
A high quality defenseman who shoots right would be fantastic. Rielly had to play a few games on the right side when the Leafs got Muzzin who shoots left.

Dubas signs Spezza to another 1-year deal @ $700,000. Clearly a nod to incoming Paul MacLean. Add Spezza to the pile with newly signed Denis Malgin, also at the league min $700,000.

😖 :poop:

Rumors continue to have Matt Murray headed to Toronto. True or not, would this actually be an upgrade to Andersen?

Your passion for your team doesn't seem so far off from others' for the Leafs. Out of curiosity, I wonder if there is a similar thread to this one for the Habs on MERB? Personally, I think every hard core sports fan suffers from the same irrational, unjustifiable love of their favorite team. In essence - we're all a very sick bunch! :ROFLMAO:
You want Hard Core...I hate the Habs so much that if the Montreal Canadiens were playing the TalibanI would cheer for the Taliban!

I think he's got another year left in him.
He was a pleasant surprise for me last year, his legs are almost done, but he showed hockey IQ beyond my expectations.

"The draft is scheduled for October 6–7, 2020 and will be held virtually via video conference call from the NHL Network Studios in Secaucus, New Jersey. It was originally scheduled for June 26–27, 2020 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, but was postponed on March 25, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic."

The last two years the Leafs drafted a bunch of undersized players.

Rodion Amirov, forward
Kill me now. They couldn't have picked this 'can of corn' in later rounds? WTF is wrong with this team!?

This is a repost of a post I made on another thread:

My gut reaction was "Again?"
But in my own mind, trying to figure out how Dubas thinks and maneuvers, I think it makes sense.
Amirov is a super skilled player, top Russian skater in this draft, that says a lot.
I think he's a much cheaper Nylander type of player, Nylander's days are numbered I think.
Same way they're plugging Robertson into the Kapanen/Johnsson spot

They're going to build their defence from trades, free agency, they haven't got time to develop entry level defencemen.
Nylander could be a part of that.

Let me know what you think.

There are lot of viable candidates on TERB.
Just like the guys go for “girlfriend experience“ with an escort, some come here for a “GM experience“ lol.

There are a lot more president/prime mister/politician wannabes in the political section than the GM wannabes in this sports section though.

"Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas is focused on adding more grit to his lineup. "

Apparently, Amirov has a lot of grit, a very solid 200 foot player, goes up against bigger players on the boards.
May not be very big, but is fiercely competitive. That's good enough for me.
