Interesting. I think the opposite is true. He's hoping the crime was committed by a licensed gun owner with a legally obtained firearm. That way he can justify his reasoning as to why nobody should be able to possess a handgun, legally or illegally. Take them away from everyone.

Truth is, if this guy was hell-bent on shooting people, he would've found the means to. Although it may have been a little easier if he had a PAL.

The reason things dont change in these places are because we don't analyze any socioeconomic barriers they face.

Mental health is definitely a thing. Ask a mental health care worker. Ask them if police or anyone front lines is capable. Bet you it will be a negative. And that's not to say they aren't good at their jobs, they just aren't trained effectively to deal with mental illness.

This guy, no matter if he had valid reasons or not for being pissed off at this board, had mental health issues. Sane people don't purposely buy a handgun and then go hunting for people. I'm no health care expert, but I sure read people fairly quickly and accurately. I said I would made sure he wouldn't have bothered me; because I would've recognized his instability and been on guard with him.

This is WAY off topic, but dude, really? I do work for families around Georgian bay: There are families for whom your 18th birthday present from Grampa is a waterfront cottage with a boathouse. A kid born in Attawapiskat or out port Newfoundland has has the same opportunity? Next time you have a weekend, fill up your car and drive until the tank is empty. Do that 2 more times. I guarantee that wherever you end up, those people do not have the same opportunity that you do.

To be totally fair, I think the reason people are treating this case differently is because there are 2 hours of him explaining his motivations. Near as I can tell with the other cases you are referencing, those video manifestos don't exist. And don't let your experience bias your beliefs about others: I've had 2 cases in my area where property crimes turned fatal. One where the white homeowner shot the native thief, and one where the white homeowner was dragged to death by the white, drug addict thief. I have the same opinion about both of them: Why did we let those people get so desperate as to need to steal $2k worth of stuff? Why did we let those owners get in a position where $2k worth of (insured) stuff is worth their, or someone elses, life?

Thats because media is releasing stuff. Media doesnt release anything avout other suspects about their struggles. No other suspexts have ever struggled with issues?

It is possible for people to hold more than one idea in their brain at one time. Some people might be better than at it than others, but it is still possible. One can condemn his actions while also looking at the other factors that led to it. That doesn't mean they condone turning violent against people.

That said, really sad how this guy had mental health issues for so long and nothing was done about it.
