Max Verstappen seems to be the reckless type. Hope he doesnt end up like Michael Schumacher or worse
Anyone who reads this thread and is under age 50 likely won't know who Stefan Bellof was.
Stefan Bellof bio stub (wikipedia)
Bellof drove for Tyrell in F1 in 1984 and 1985. Tyrell was the only F1 team still using the normally aspirated Coswsorth engine during the Turbo era. Tyrell was disqualified retroactively from the 1984 F1 championship for cheating - their cars had extra water tanks which would be full for the pre-race weigh in, but the water would be expelled before the race, to lighten the cars' weight to below the minimum.
Bellof died in a World Endurance Championship race at Spa Francorchamps on September 1, 1985. He was, at that time, the reining World Champion in WEC. He held the lap record for the 28.2 Km 'old Nurburgring' circuit from 1983 until 2018. His qualifying lap for the 1983 1000 Km Nurburgring race was about 14 seconds faster, but lap record times are always based on race laps.
I was fortunate to see Bellof race twice, at the 1984 and 1985 Canadian Grands Prix, and I saw his other F1 races on television. Had he lived, I have no doubt that he would have been a World Champion F1 driver. I would rate his driving skills as being on par with Gilles Villeneuve. They were both 'stupidly brave'.
