Max Verstappen considering retiring from F1 at end of 2026

Max Verstappen has said he is considering retiring from Formula 1 at the end of 2026, admitting he is "not enjoying the sport."

Good for him, he's in complete control of his life and amazing career. New adventures, I'll be following him.
I wonder how much the viewership will drop when he leaves, I suspect a decent portion will.

The accident that was predicted from the beginning of the season happened. And Ollie Bearman was fortunate the Spoon Curve at Suzuka where it happened had a run off area. Otherwise, it could have been fatal.

Colapinto was harvesting energy at that point. He could not go faster even if he wanted. Meanwhile, Bearman was deploying energy to overtake and was about 50 km/hr faster.
It was like Bearman was approaching a car standing still. So he had to take evasive action to avoid a collision. And off the track he went.

Either all internal combustion or all electric for the drivers to be able to maintain control. A system where at various points drivers have no control over speed is a recipe for disaster.

Exactly what I was thinking this morning. I'm a fan of his. If he leaves it'll become pablum and I'll stop watching, especially if nothing chnages. This isn't racing anymore.
Watching him last week-end was fun... splitting two cars to pass... yowza!
