So here's the thing about big and hitters. If all things being equal and you don't lose anything then sure get bigger. Get as big as you can. Get massive. You would have to be an idiot not to want that. But it doesn't work that way. The premise is there's a salary cap for one and every team thinks the same way. So the question is what do you want to sacrifice for whatever you want to upgrade. If you want bigger then how much skill do you want to sacrifice to get that size. Of course if you want to keep the same level of skill but get bigger then that's not even a question. People bring up Ovi and such. Well, whoop de do. Teams are not filled with Ovi's. You think Calgary would rather not have an Ovi than a Lucic or a Gaudreau? Ever heard of Russ Courtnall for John Kordic? Sounds like some would choose Kordic slam dunk. With a theses to prove it.
i think you spelled theses wrong. Thesis.

2 turnovers by Marner and a penalty by Nylander did the Leafs in tonight.
Marner had a horrible game. His line wasn't clicking at all. Best Leafs player on the ice tonight was Tavares. Brodie was solid too.

Maybe more than one? 🤷‍♂️
biff, have a question for you. why doesnt the league try and put a mesh netting inside the net hanging maybe halfway down, spanning the width of the net, like they used to back in late 60,s early 70,s? pucks last few years, in and out so fast, because the twine is so tight. like last night for instance when that kid from vancouver ripped one, top shelf. they had to check if it went in. just a thought.

The mesh interferes with the net cam, and now instant replay, multiple cams and slow motion technology are easy to access

the net cam is an easy fix. the multiple cams and and all the slo mo stuff, is whats holding up the game.

This thread is very quiet when the Leafs are losing. Cheerleaders hibernate during losing streaks ?

I didn’t like how they started the second period with turn over after turn over, and sure enough they went on to lose the lead and the game. The Jets’ third goal was an end product of a lazy line change, and guess who the culprit was ?

The Jets and Leafs look to be the two best teams in the division and I expect them to go neck and neck the rest of the way, unless one of them goes into an extended slump which they are both capable of. What stops that from happening is the caliber of competition. I like the Leafs’ top two in Matthews and Marner over Scheifele and Lowry, but their second tier of Dubois/Conner/Ehlers are better than the Leafs’ Tavares/Nylande/Thornton. The Leafs‘ third line is better because of the presence of Hyman. Thornton hasn’t been very effective since the first couple of games and looks slow at times.

I've had it with Anderson. Never a big save when you need it. And every crucial playoff game he's dropped the ball. No wonder management has allowed him to play out the final year of his term.

You should have put a quote above the picture of someone saying that the Leafs WILL win the Cup to really rub in the 3 game losing streak in his face.

Oh wait. Now I remember. Nobody has said that.
Habs fans were planning the parade first 10 games in.

Not that I've seen them all, but that might have been the most exciting game of the year. The Leafs had a huge territorial advantage but Hellebuyck stood on his head. A loss there, having given up a late goal, would have made it 4 in a row and nooses would have been tightening.

Did Nylander throw any hits or block any shots?

Best game I’ve seen in a long long time. Great effort all around. This typifies what ”gutting out a win” is all about. Best game ever from Nylander. Hyman the usual workhorse. Matthews’ winner was a thing of beauty.
