Are we now grasping at alternate universes to bash Nylander.
At least it's now speculation rather than proof.
Seems someone is conveniently forgetting all the work Nylander did to set up Marner and Spezza.
I suppose on those plays he was thinking he gets no credit for scoring goals so might as well give a great pass instead since passers get all the credit. I can see the hounds coming out if Nylander doesn't score tonight at his goal a game pace.
No, just a rebuttal against those who, with smugness and sarcasm, elevate him to a ridiculous level.

...A leader on this team?
You've got to be joking. His name has never come up that way, and it still doesn't.
... no one else in the hockey world even hints at it.
...This guy needs to grow the fuck up and show some commitment to his teammates...
Tuesday night (May 25, 2021, for those keeping track), postgame:

Jason Spezza: "Nylander is more vocal on the bench, in addition to being a leader on the ice."
Jason Spezza: "You can tell he's really taken a leadership role with John down. He’s stepped up."
Sheldon Keefe "Nylander's self-confidence has now extended to a confidence within the team structure."

Keefe didn't refer to anything other than his confidence.
Jason Spezza? Sorry I don't see it at all. More like a guy propping a team mate whose been a whipping boy
for a long time.
Kind of like when Tavares was defending Nylander a month or so back, saying how he's competitive and wants to win badly.
If you have to go out of your way to convince us that's what he is, that's what he's not.
Everybody wants to win, not everyone is willing or able to do what it takes to win.

Why don't you answer this question you've been avoiding.
Why don't you acknowledge the guys that are fighting the battles in the game.
It's a fucking war out there in case you haven't noticed and ALMOST everyone is sacrificing their bodies,
and clawing for territory and busting their asses, chasing pucks down, skating back, putting pressure on the other guys.
Can you really say that about Nylander?

....leader is not a synonym for confidence.

Jason Spezza. I'll trust his evaluation of William Nylander a lot more than yours.

Who's going out of their way.

You are the individual who stated with regards to Nylander:

...A leader on this team?

I had to reach all the way back to this Tuesday to show evidence to the contrary.

Why do facts bother you so?

With regard to answering your question I've been avoiding?
I have read the terb.cc policy page; there's nothing there that indicates any member must answer every other member's every question.
I have mentioned other Maple Leafs in this series.
I can unequivocally state that I don't believe there are any passengers on the Toronto bus this series.
I did not realize that I must comment on players you seem to desire I comment on.

I even looked back at the 1st post in this thread.
Nowhere in that post are rules stated that members responding to this thread must answer every question posed to him/her that another member suggests.
If you could draw my attention to something I've missed in those rules/regulations, I'll apologize, and attempt to answer your every question.

Anything else for now, jello?

Fuck I hope they give this Mikheyev guy to Seattle this expansion time.
Hope he doesn’t have anything to spill on the Boss like that Ponikarovsky guy did.

Only -165 for Toronto to win this according to bet365. Implied odds of about 60%.

probably going to drop a few hundred on that. They have all the momentum and coming back from 3-0 shifted the pressure back to Montreal.

As opposed to those who, because Nylander's style of play does not match what they believe an ideal player's should be, continue to denigrate him and refuse to acknowledge that he is an asset to the team. Not the Leafs best player, not a great player but an asset. Going into overtime, important assists on only 2 of the Leafs 3 goals and 4/4 on faceoffs . His detractors must go crazy any time Keefe puts such a soft, team demoralizing player on the ice. Nobody has said that Keefe is stupid so why does Keefe keep putting him on?

BTW, I have never, ever said that he was anything more than an asset to the team. But to you that is elevating him to a ridiculous level. Who is the one being ridiculous?

While this is nice to hear now, the questions remain - where have these qualities been for six seasons? Great, he's finally more vocal on the bench in 2021 - how long will it last and why has it taken so long to surface? He's taken a leadership role since JT's been down. Super - that's two games out of six seasons. Why'd it take so long? His self-confidence now extending to the team structure? Translation: he's always been known as a 'me first' player on this team, but we've finally got the message through that it's about more than him, and it's time for him to get with the program.

It was very telling that Keefe stated that when WN was last benched, that it wasn't a single issue, but an accumulation of things that landed him in the dog house. Translation: We've all been putting up with his BS too long and finally decided it was time to send him that message - NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

I'll say it again - regardless of offensive talent, WN has never really been a great fit on this team, and going forward, I believe his days in TOR are very limited. Has never been a true favorite of any Leafs coach or GM, and just because it's playoff time and the rest of the team is trying to keep the overall team vibe positive by publicly defending him and pumping his tires means absolutely nothing. He'll be odd-man out sooner than later, which could be a good thing for him as well. He needs a re-start somewhere else.

I wonder if Foligno would play on Saturday? If he does, I would love to see him play with Mathews and Marner again cause this is the line needs perform the most. I have not seen effective result from this line. Leafs needs Foligno badly. Let's stop talking about Nylander and help the Leafs win the Saturday game!

Go Leafs Go!!!

It's the assists that do all the work so Nylander got 2 of them. Put himself in excellent scoring spots. Got 3 opponents to his side to make his cross ice pass to Muzzin to enter the zone for his goal.
Dermott is most likely in for Sandin the rest of the series at least considering they played 5 D all game after they were down.
For a guy who use to be an elite passer Thornton being too slow cannot put himself into good position to make good passes.
He's just too slow. Reaction time as well. He could have helped out Sandin on his first turnover but he didn't.
2 Thornton turnovers cost them the first game and 2 Sandin turnovers cost them this game.
