The Leafs clinch a playoff spot. Rittich starts tomorrow, expect the Leafs to have an off night vs Vancouver as they face Holtby who has been a Leaf killer of late.

Who cares about clinching. They were 99.99% to make the playoffs prior to the game tonight. You were more likely to get a blood clot from taking the wrong vaccine than Leafs not making the playoffs.

I hope they show up tomorrow for DR33. Great win tonight by the Blue & White.

Foligno 3 games 3 points 3 wins.
I'm beginning to see the main deficiency in Galchenyuk's game that explains why he can't stick with a team.
Perhaps the plan is to use Foligno with Tavares/Nylander once Hyman returns to play with Matthews/Marner.

Which is?
Watch the way Foligno plays. He has a tremendous defensive conscience. That's probably why Leafs got him more than anything else. 2 years in a row Leafs traded a 2nd round pick for a defensively sound 4th line center. That is their modis operandi. They probably had a plan right from the outset to upgrade a top 6 winger at the trade deadline. After the Vesey failure they went through several iterations until they happened upon Galchunyuk. A player that cleared waivers. I would think he was more a place holder until they got the likes of a Foligno. Then Hyman got injured.

I liked Vesey - I thought he played well. Happy that we got NF71 though but thought Vesey was good.

The hand-eye coordination to pick the puck out of the air and the quick release on Auston Matthew's goal last night was crazy good. An elite pure goal scorer coming into his prime.
The one where he batted the puck up in mid air and swatted it would have been even more incredible, he is spectacular, and the best release I've ever seen.

He was an anchor on the 2nd line. He didn't do much when he moved down to 3rd and then eventually the 4th line. Look at the way Brooks is playing.

Well put - can't argue on AB77 - that guy is playing like a beast.

I was asking about this comment:
I'm beginning to see the main deficiency in Galchenyuk's game that explains why he can't stick with a team.
What is this main deficiency? I don't think that you said what it is.

I think he's got decent size, he skates well and he seems to give a good effort, but his results are "meh". Curious to hear what you say.

I know what you were asking and I gave the answer. His defensive conscience is the anti Foligno. Making defensive reads and positioning. Everything else about Galchenyuk looks good. His skating is very good. He hits. He forechecks. Has some offensive skills. Nylander has defensive deficiencies as well but he has much better skating, shooting, passing and overall offensive skills that on balance nets him a positive.
