oh well. if Andersen stays and puts up another stinker in the playoffs, Dubas can get shown the door.

Freddy really broke our back letting in those softies during the CBJ series. The boys know they cant count on him. The salt in the wound was Korpisalo playing lights out.

Are you hard of "reading" or do you just assume everyone is always saying something negative as that is your default style? I don't think oral.com (great handle by the way) is saying Spezza's contract is fat - just that Toronto in the view of some has over paid certain players and they typically have an early start to their golf seasons.

So looking forward to your considered and temperate response.
Thank you No60, that is exactly what I meant to say.

For those that need to boost their fragile self esteem by attacking and insulting other opinions with petty, childish, playground comments please just stop.
I for one have watched you (SS88) insult and bully other members ruthlessly. I have stayed away from sports forum specifically because your on line behaviour disgusts me. If you have something positive to contribute I welcome it, otherwise please move on.

Imagine how the team would look if rather than Tavares Leafs had instead someone like Drew Doughty.
Serious question: What player in the league is like Drew Doughty?

Drew Doughty himself was never available to Toronto, or any other NHL team (other than the Kings) to approach.
He signed an 8 year extension with Los Angeles when he was still 1 year away from free agency.

A player that didn't want a fat contract in Toronto.
He already won a cup in LA. Or was that 2 cups?
Makes a huge difference.
So....he took the fat contract in Los Angeles instead?

Leafs have no plans to trade Andersen.

Sometimes you have to wonder where those rumours (Freddy on the trading block) came from. Were they made up by the writers or if the Leafs threw that out to see what kind of interests that would generate ?

Anyhow, I’m not against trading Freddy if it means an upgrade, but I just don’t see how you can do that without giving up assets or paying less than what what we’re paying Freddy now. If they’re going to give up anything I hope the first priority is to upgrade the defence and see if a better and tougher defence will lead to a better Freddy. If they get inferior goaltending than what Freddy brings, they risk not even making the playoff.

The Maple Leafs missed the 2019-20 playoffs with FA31 in goal.

I would like the Maple Leafs to draft the best available player tonight at #15, presuming they don't move the selection. Talent wins. Size be damned.

Leafs pass on defensemen to draft Amirov
My gut reaction was "Again?"
But in my own mind, trying to figure out how Dubas thinks and maneuvers, I think it makes sense.
Amirov is a super skilled player, top Russian skater in this draft, that says a lot.
I think he's a much cheaper Nylander type of player, Nylander's days are numbered I think.
Same way they're plugging Robertson into the Kapanen/Johnsson spot

They're going to build their defence from trades, free agency, they haven't got time to develop entry level defencemen.
Nylander could be a part of that.

Leafs trade their 2nd round pick to Ottawa for 2 picks. Late 2nd and early 3rd.

A number of years ago, the Maple Leafs 1st Round pick: comes down to
Player A 6'2" 230
or
Player B 6'0' 198

Farkin' Leafs, take the smaller player

Oh, their NHL Statistics, so far...
Player A
294Ga 44Go 67A 111Pt. 350 PIM
Player B
307Ga 86Go 135A 221Pt 74 PIM

Drafted 2 spots apart.
Who do you want on your club?

Let's let someone intelligent and knowledgeable go first. Wait, I seem to recall RockydartsRocker placing himself in this category. I think that he should go first.
