...fuck she's hot, still don't know who she is.

My basketball knowledge is limited but I must ask this question: Why doesn't Norman Powell start every game?

good question, have had the same thought on more than one occasion. Going to give you the only reason I can come up with: if they are considering trading Carroll, they have to play him in order to show case him and keep his value at a level where they can include him in a deal for a high priced player. NBA trades usually keep the salaries traded close.
I also think Powell is still learning and as such they prefer the veteran in there, then he has a kick ass night like last night and you go WTF!?!

I really have to hand it to the organization for putting together a string of great seasons.

This one looks to be another good one but hate to say it any team in the east has the same problem.... at some point they have to beat the Cavs in a series and Lebron is just that good right now. And IF you managed to get past the Cavs you are probably looking at the task on beating the Warriors. Beating those two teams in series is a tall order.

The reason is why we have one of the best 2nd units in the league

You have to be unrelated to the papa smerf on the blue board. You said more than six words, and 'Bacon' wasn't one of them. I like Lucas Nogueira, the 'throw in' with Lou Williams, for John Salmons to the Hawks, a few years back. He's freakishly athletic, and still learning how to play. He reminds me of Keon Clark a bit, without the chronic. What bodes well for the Raptors is that their core players have played with each other several years now. They'll have to fight for PF minutes when Sullinger's back. Team chemistry is good, so I don't see a need for a trade, but if they could upgrade with someone who wouldn't disrupt the locker room, who knows?

Just back to read a few reviews. I'm banned - but only from The Lounge. If anybody sees my pal nondescriptive, please ask him to contact me by PM. I had a Sports Trivia thread here a few years ago, but it's beyond the range I'm able to search.

Celebrated the return to divisional ball with a visit with the incredible Dina :couple_inlove:. So did we win this game?:thumb: Finally recovered and able to speak on....

Holee crap they can play D!!! Nut Crusher of a different type last night, the steal and dunk by Powell in the third was the spark for the Raps and it looked to me like it demoralized the Celtics. Prior to that plat Celtics were kicking ass!
still searching for 48 minutes but love the way the boys now are looking more cohesive as the days go on.... Nut Crusher second half!

One thing I was worried about this year was the loss of Biyombo and the rim protection, energy and toughness he brought, but you know what, Bebe Noguiera has been great filling that void. He is so damn long, you can really see it when he grabs a rebound and holds it over his head, it's insane, no one's getting that ball back from him!
Also, he is way better on finishing at the rim on pick and roll with Kyle and throwing it down than Biyombo was.
The reason is why we have one of the best 2nd units in the league
Bebe's growth and athleticism shows promise and a full season will only be good. We'll see where he ends at the end of the year but, being the last part of the Gay trade that keeps on giving and giving, he's definitely trending in right direction. Biyombo who!?! BB was great here, for sure, but 17M a year is good for him but not his team! And Bebe leads into this second unit that's starting to really bubble up. I think DC is really starting to get back in form and he will start being a major cog. When he's cleared to start babktobacks i think that will up things a notch. And that puts The General onto a second unit that has huge potential to scare. Bebe, CoJo has picked it up, PP has had better shooting nights while being great on D, TRoss is getting more consistent and better (even if Dawg ain't sold on it yet,) and Poeltl,Wright, Van VLeet seem solid when needed. Again, if and when Sullinger returns and Siakam drops down the depth will be reassuring. And if Sullinger actually contributes ....:bolt: Let's go raptors!

GFE Assuming Sullinger is ready around the all star game and plays to his potential, it will be like adding a significant piece at the deadline! As much as I like Siakim there are times when the experienced guys are educating him. He will be a better player for it as this experience is educational and beats the hell out of being schooled in the 905.
I noticed that you gave accolades to pretty much every player on the team, except Bruno. You wonder how much more time and money they are going to invest in him?
As for T.Ross, please note I have had very few negative post regarding him and his performance(s). I have seen some big improvements but still need to see more consistency. I think Powell's emergence has had a positive effect on him as Powell is taking minutes from him, thus pushing him, and I think that will continue. At this point in time I believe Powell has made both Carroll and Ross tradable pieces. If Sullinger doesn't come through you can take either or both those guys, and/or Sullinger, and perhaps a youngster and/or a draft pick and get a significant piece.

They have a basketball thread on the blue board, with posts like:

"Two minutes left, and they're only down by two!" plus emoticon.

The only thing I don't like about the current edition of the Raptors, compared to the Bosh era team, is resale ticket pricing. Back in the day, or maybe still, Leafs' season ticket holders had to also buy Raptors season tickets. You could decide at the last minute to go to a game, and buy tickets on the street for less than face value. That is not a euphemism for 'street action', btw. One of my all time favorite quotes, when Shaq referred to Bosh as "The RuPaul of bigmen!"

I'm posting on "thedirty" these days. The current thread in comments for Cristal Chandler in Chicago gossip is really funny, especially given the random sequence in which posts display on that board.

Ross started to play better as soon as he got the contract extension last season. I'd like to see him get to the line more often; D is not his strongest suit, but it's improved. I think the Raptors in playoffs will benefit if the 1st/ 2nd round opponents, (no longer just wishful thinking), could be dealt with in 4-5 games each, and they'd hope Eastern Conference opponents with older rosters would have to play seven game series'. While there are several teams with as good or better starting five, I'd take my chances with a 10 on 10, in a long series, or overtime games in playoffs, where fouling out could be a major factor.

When Shaq was playing for Phil J. in LA, he seemed to be injured every year, from sometime in January, until after the All Star break. I have my doubts as to how injured he was. I think maybe Phil was managing his minutes the same way he'd do that in a game, but for a season. Shaq rarely missed a playoff game, if ever, during that stretch. The Raptors seem to be subscribers to that theory, as is Greg K in San Antonio. They often rested Tim Duncan, Ginobli, et al, the older guys, for games against weaker opposition, when the rest of the team could win, without them.

Totally agree on potential of Sully's return. But to keep perspective, that's we thought about DC last year.

Bruno will be waived and we will hear about his European league exploits in two years and he'll be back in 5 years as a deep bench addon on his way back to finishing his career in the Brazilian league. Or maybe not!?!:croc:

And Bob, I too wud stack our ten against any ten in the long run especially if they continue to progress as shown so far.

The Greek Freak returns. This is one player that could become an all timer! If he continues developing at this pace, watch out. Fun guy to watch. But still not enuff to slay the Raps. Let's go Raptors!

Thanks, gfelover, that's probably the first time I've been noticed on this board in about 2½ years! If somebody can find the Sports Trivia thread from a few years back, I'm up to ask and answer a few. I'd look for it myself, but I'm not allowed to scroll back more than five pages in search.

I'm having fun posting on thedirty these days, and doing some professional writing. If I make good coin from a project about 20% finished, I'll be in the mood to write a review or two. In my line, I work a lot, without making any money, but when I do, one paycheck lasts a long time. I only work when the money from the last one starts running out, like the half life of something radioactive. Just like that, half the money's gone. As they say, a fool and his money are soon partying. I just popped in to see if I had any PM replies.

Urbandictionary just published the new word I made up, "sockworthy". You can find it here: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=sock-worthy

I need two thumbs up for mine to supplant the lame hyphenated version by some cat lady that spends all day on Pinterest, and still calls the Internet "My AOL". Unhyphenated, it's a man's word, literally. Feel free to be among the first to use it.

Another huge lopsided win for a team that I thought would give us problems ( I think the Bucks beat the Cavs ) ... Do we take for granted how fortunate we are being a Raptor fan ... 17-7 and they have played the Cavs 3 times and the Warriors once .. On another note ... How do the Wizard lose to the Heat ?

Question ... How come I don't have the ultimate sports package ( Don't get Sportsnet1 and or some TSN channels ) but every Leaf game is on the tube but tonight my sports channels are filled with NFL and NHL hockey ... Heck I even pay extra for Raptor TV and that doesn't get me Raptor games ..

Ross: 21 min. 10/17shooting, 4/6 3point, 1/3 FT, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 25 points. Provided the spark in the 4th after the Raps were flat in the third. Most memorable play the missed wind mill slam dunk!
Good game, Raps D was awesome in the first half.
Philly next, have to get the boys up for that one!

It seems T.Ross was two years away from being two years away cause in his 5th year he seems to have arrived
Ross is Much improved and becoming more consistent!

Speaking of 2 years away from etc. Bruno, just looked at the Raps salary structure and the Raps are stuck with him this year and next. If he isn't ready to play some meaningful minutes by this time next year, he will be a wasted first round pick.

His salary will help if your trying to make a trade .. You might need his salary cap space to make a trade work cause that is the only use for him.

When the reserves hit the floor for their few minutes of play, Bruno still looks lost. The others all seem to have an idea as to what their role is. When Wright comes back doubt if Bruno dresses. There has to be something there that the average person doesn't see. Keep hearing about his wingspan but what good is it if he doesn't know how to use it?

T Ross is looking damm impressive . I am glad ( me included ) GM's don't take our advice cause if they did we would traded Ross at his lowest value or not have signed him ..

I do think having DeRozan as your franchise player is a great asset . How hard he has worked from a 9th pic overall to now may have rubbed off on T Ross
