2016/17 Toronto Raptors Season Thread !!

RIP Atlanta. That was a serious beatdown that only Rodney King could understand. Ever since DeRozan decided to become a passer, the offense has just clicked. That was also the best defensive game we've played this year. I'd be weary of the Hawks when we go to Atlanta. They will want revenge.

WOW! a 44point victory, following a 25 point victory...break up the Raps! Back to back kick ass games. Are the Hawks that bad or did the Raps make them look that bad. Hawks continued to lose ground against our deep bench! Is JV hurting? He hasn't looked right to me the past few games.
Cavs on Monday and that won't be easy, they will be rested and motivated!

Every Raptor had looked great lately

I have to give Patterson some praise for his play now too. He looked awful early. Hope consistency plays a part for all the guys going forward. It seems keeping a decent set of guys together for a few years really helps. Hopefully the Leafs are watching with their core of young talent.

NUTCRUSHER is in the house..!!

....and how do we get the Cavs 3 times in 45 days and then not till the final game of the year? With this form this might a good test as long as Cavs don't rest anyone...

DeRozan just under 10 points away from10,000 .
I am pretty sure he will get quite the ovation . Although unlike Bosh he will acknowledge the crowd .. Also just a but over 200 points away from all time Raptor status

We just cant seem the beat the cavs! If masai does not make a significant move prior to deadline we will just fall short again. And honestly although i have not seen sullinger play yet i dint think he will be a game changing piece

And what significant move do you suggest they make, keeping in mind to get a decent piece you have to give up something and keep yourself under the cap?!?

We all know when it comes to post season the rotation shrinks. Our bench will not be seeing the minutes they get during the regular season as the starters will be getting 40 mins/gm. If anything will be done masai will have to dismantle two 2nd unit players and 1 starter for a decent F/C along with a draft pick. Im thinking ross, patterson and carroll or valanciunas but who knows? All i know is this core will get stopped again at the ECF.

We've come a long way way when reaching the ECF is a disappointment. I understand we want to win the NBA Finals, but if getting that 3rd all-star means giving up depth then it still may not be enough anyway. Waiting for T-Ross and Powell and/Nogueira to grow to the next level might be the smarter move. I don't think any of us here thought DeRozan would have gotten as good as he's become this year. Lowry was a bit of a stretch a couple of years ago too. And every year these guys mature is one more year LBJ and Irving, Love and JR smith get older and slower. We actually still have a chance this year without blowing up the roster. We have an even better chance next year. The Bulls took a few years. The Pistons took a few years. There might be a trade to be made. Maybe a tweak instead of a major move destroying our depth. In the meantime lets enjoy making it deep into the playoffs. What a time to be a Torontonian. The Jays, The Raptors, TFC and maybe even the Leafs all very exciting.

Think you have it right Wonky, they are playing as a cohesive unit, lets not mess it up!

Knicks, winners of 4 straight played the Cavs at home last night and got their asses kicked big time! Back to back games Cavs killed winning streaks!

T-Wolves and Andrew Wiggens tonight. Watched the Spurs pretty much own them the other night. Still they can't be taken lightly.

T-Wolves owning the Raptors so far after Q1 with just shy of 60% shooting versus 33%.

Well the Raps won it but I sure was not comfortable with their play in the early part of the game. D sucked again! If they don't start playing D on a consistent basis look for a very short playoff run!

Bebe has come a long way, needs to get attitude, lose the cheesy smile! His wing span changes the way guys shoot on the inside. He is doing a good job and will improve as the season progresses!
My bitch is not with the young guys, it is with the "we can outscore them" mentality. Need to start holding the opposition under 100 points a game.

Anyone know when sullinger is back? Should be soon no?
it was going to be January after the road trip was the initial points but they may hold off till allstar break. I hear he's starting court activity next week. If he is healthy, I still think he will upgrade team further.

But this team, as all have concurred, really needs to get some disciplined D under their belt. DCAsey said it best, "it's to be a good team but u don't play D you won't be a special team".

Finally big divisional game ce soir! These games are the ones we need so the boys need to Githerdone! Let's go Raptors!

Holee crap they can play D!!! Nut Crusher of a different type last night, the steal and dunk by Powell in the third was the spark for the Raps and it looked to me like it demoralized the Celtics. Prior to that plat Celtics were kicking ass!

For anyone that may not have watched the game last night, Sullinger was on the bench in civvies, BOOT ON! Be lucky if he is read to play at end of Jan.
Noticed a lot of hugs handshakes etc. by the Raps and Celtics at the end of the game, I did not see Sullinger involved with any of his ex- teammates. Please correct me if I am wrong!(Like you have ask to be corrected on this board!)LOL

Didn't see the game but followed the scores on ESPN website. When they were down by 15 mid way through the second period I was wondering where the game was heading. It looked like the second of the back to back games was taking it's toll as some commentators were saying.

First half of that second period shooting was awful, from memory something like 30%. But then the Raptors started to turn things round from then on finishing the first half 8 points down.

Sadly I missed them taking over in the third period.

Awesome win last night, even though the Celtics were missing Isaiah Thomas. Always tough to win in Boston especially on a back to back.

One thing I was worried about this year was the loss of Biyombo and the rim protection, energy and toughness he brought, but you know what, Bebe Noguiera has been great filling that void. He is so damn long, you can really see it when he grabs a rebound and holds it over his head, it's insane, no one's getting that ball back from him!

Also, he is way better on finishing at the rim on pick and roll with Kyle and throwing it down than Biyombo was.
