JaVale McGee is on the Maverick's roster.
I thought there had to be a floor but when I looked at the roster was amazed at how little the payroll was. Embiid was showing on that payroll.
Speaking of Embiid, will he ever play in the NBA?
JaVale McGee is one of those buyout scenarios ... He maybe gone but sill on the books for this season ...

Embiid is the Bruno Category ... He is two years away from being two years away :)

Yup McGee is on the 76ers books as is Gerald Wallace, 12 and 10 million respectively. Frig! I'm not playing either, where's my millions?
Portland and Orlando actually show a lower payroll than the 76ers. What is even stupider is we, the general public, that pay to go to games,
purchase cable programming, and buy team clothing. Owners and players must be laughing at us all the way to the Cayman Islands!

76ers are learning ... It's not winning the lottery it is when you win the lottery ....

I could enjoy the 4-0 start more if last yr's sweep wasn't in my memory bank. This franchise needs a Joey bats moment ..

Saying that 4-0 start first time in team history .... They held the Mavs to under 60 percent ... If they beat the Thunder ( I assume they will get crushed ) they might get my attention
I guess our Raptors fans version of the Joey Bats moment didn't even happen in a game ... The VC Dunk when he said " It's over " is our bat flip moment ..

Finally the Raps have an Italian who shows up for games. Ok, Luis Scola is Argentinian born but scola means school in Italian.

Btw, how's Il Mago Dormito doing with the Nets?

Mediocre team in the west, probably is a very good team in the east.
I would say the Raps are a lottery team in the West ... Holly Ship the Warriors are crazy good ... They beat the Grizz by 50 points last night ...
The fact they won the game and got almost no offense from the bench, and Carroll ended up with 3 points, surprised the hell out of me. Lowery is friggin' amazing! Scola was what I thought he would be last night, double, double, with some clutch rebounds and shots. DeRozan 3 fouls in the first half and a lot of bench time none in the second half and a very productive 2 way game. Excellent win!

Thunder tonight! This will be a real test after a hard fought game that had to wear our guys down.
Gents, I got what I needed from that effort last night! 4-0 for the first time is an achievement for these guys. Was wondering how this squad would leave a mark and that's how! They are definitely not a lottery pick in the west! Great, solid performance and it's obvious they are still trying to gel together which bodes well. Outstanding to see them win with defence for something different! Considering how that third quarter went(bucket for bucket!!) I was impressed they upped their d game to close out and keep the O going. And they're doing this with DD & KL doing their thing and everyone else staying in their lanes!
This group is growing on me and I can definitely feel they are an upgrade from last year. Tonight, I think the bell might ring midnight but I hope they can surprise again! Our Joeybats moment is still coming and I hope it's further into the playoffs than joeys was!

Hey, and Rguy, that GS game they were down in the first too! They looked regular there and I thought they were going to go down that night....then they went nuts..they are still tough and all those non-believers might want to take a new view!

Remember a guy named James Johnson ... This guy must be in the coaches / organization doghouse ... He has DNP in almost every game ... You think a 1st overall pick in his 3rd year could see some action that isn't garbage time ... Cassey seems this year to be going with a short rotation ....

Yup I remember him! Thought he might the high energy guy off the bench but so far just on the bench. I agree there has to be a reason and my guess is he doesn't buy into Casey's defensive strategy. Lot of talent not a lot of smarts is my assessment.

Off to great start like last season. However, let's see if they finish strong heading into the playoffs.

Yes ... Last year we had a 7-1 start and within that stretch was a game against the Thunder ... Although last years game was in Toronto and no Westbrook or Durrant ... Weird the leading scorers in that game aren't even on the roster today ... Lou , Hansbrough , Vasquez and even James Johnson had 8 points .. Heck James Johnson in a back to back game saw no action this week ...

What a game

5-0 !!!!
IMO the first half was just bad basketball, Neither team scored much, just bad shooting. Could not believe the Raps led by 1 at the half. The second half was fun to watch, the shooting got better, intensity on both teams picked up, defense, especially the Raps was awesome, DeRozan kept driving and going to the line. Carroll is really special, defense is awesome with enough scoring to keep the opponents aware of him at both ends. 5-0 with 2 wins on the road, 2 against better than average western division teams. Anyone still think they are a lottery team if they were in the west????
On to Florida, Orlando is not a push over and lets hope Raps don't take them lightly. Beat the Magic then worry about the Heat.
Have a concern about the Raps bench Casey only played 9 last night. Does not say much for the rest of the team. Starters have to stay healthy!

Oh I agree with you about the quality of play it's the drama and emotions that made it a fun match to watch ... The refs were doing a good job helping the Thunder and Raps had to keep clawing back after every bad ref call ... The Thunder it seems rely to much on Durant and Westbrook and that may work during the season but that will kill you in the playoffs ...

The Magic I agree is a team you can't sleep on ...

Okay, something something is brewing here. Short bench is a bit concerning (who are you pissing off, JJ?) but most compelling is the difference between last year's start and this year. Last year was primarily an offensive juggernaut through the beginning but this year, like last night, we're defending tough to win. These Raptors when playing small is a very tough defensive bunch! Even if Scola is in they are still a tough out! Still need to see the bench get better and offence to get more options in (other than ISO DD and then run a quick PnR!>). Still, BtB handled well so that's another test handled well. Now avoid the letdown and the sun and sweep Florida!

Usually when someone knocks the refs I overlook it as calls often go both ways, this time the Thunder were getting the bulk of the calls and some down right sucked!

The Raps did get to the line 39 times ... Thunder only 14 ... Although Refs were super sensitive when it comes to T.O when issuing Technicals

I wish they didn't give TRoss a contract extension ... Often players give us something more when it is a contract year and now he is already signed and overpaid ... He would have been only a restricted free agent next summer ... what was the rush in giving this guy money .. DeRozan gets to the line more times in one quarter then T.Ross gets in 5 games ..
