Please explain how different Mexico City is from Cancun, or any Puerto's?
Everything is amplified in Mexico City, but you are kind of correct. There is not much difference when it comes to expatriates taking control of the local housing market.

The law is still quite strict in tourist areas, which is why most expatriates bought into development from the main hotel chain. But things are changing. Playa Del Carmen saw a very large number of private units sold to expatriates, and problems are arising right now. A friend of mine is happy he resisted buying for a few years and only went renting. He's now leaving the area.

A 7 day vacation is really a 3 day vacation because it takes a couple of days to decompress from life then starting day 5, you are already stressing about going home. Having said that, I spend 6 month each year travelling and I still get depressed when going home.

This anti-foreigner sentiment not only exists in Mexico but everywhere in South America where Americans and Canadians have taken up residents, pushing up prices for locals.

One wonders how long they will tolerate the gringo.
And it's reaching very problematic level in Portugal and Spain as well.

Life in North-America and Northern Europe is so fucking crazy expensive that most of the middle class realize they could live an early retreat under the sun in some beautiful areas in Mexico, Costa-Rica, Panama, Portual, Spain, Greece... But the locals are pissed to be priced out of their home...

In Puerto Rico, residents stand their ground against new American owners who think the beach in front of their newly acquired home is their private beach... No such thing as a private beach in Puerto-Rico, Mexico, and all of Latin America. The beaches are public, everywhere.

Not bad. Reviews on TripAdvisor are pretty good.
Do they wave the single supplement at certain times of the year.
How much did you pay? Did you get the ocean view room?
