Gavin Newsome prepping for his 2028 run and want some "righty" votes...
People will keep trying to tell us the U.S. progressives are centrists. This is as old as social media.

Actions are louder than words, Watch how the Democrats running for Presidency drift to the center. That's the true center.

I fail to see how it helps Canadians to be prevented from buying $30,000 Chinese EVs instead of $60,000 Teslas and Japanese EVs
China has State subsidized factory workers who make their cars, Canada and the US dont.
This gives China an unfair advantage.
If we had subsidized factory workers we could probably make Teslas for $30,000 as well

I am not aware that Canada has an EV manufacturing industry.
You seriously don't see the big picture?

Canada produces 1,500,000 autos per year. All those American and Japanese manufacturers produce EVs. There is a burgeoning EV industry in Canada.

Oh I got it. It is a useless excuse when someone has nothing left to bring to the table
No, you didnt get it.
Its actually the person who resorts to name-calling who has nothing left to bring to the table.
Not the other way around

Man, I'm running out of crayons today.

If you can buy an EV for half the price of an ICE car, you will

THEREFORE ( <- this means "because the first thing is true, the next thing will also be true)

The demand for ICE cars will drop

THEREFORE

Fewer factories will be needed to meet ICE car demand

THEREFORE

There will be fewer factories.

THEREFORE

You have less GDP, and less ability to build tanks and planes.

Also:

CAMI makes electric vans

Toyota Canada makes Hybrid RAV4's

CRV hybrid is made in Canada

Charger EV is built in Canada

Ballard is fuel cell, but also made in Canada.

VW battery plant

Honda supplier battery plant

I see the bigger picture. In manufacturing, China is ahead of USA, so I think it will be better to partner with China than USA. Not to mention, that USA slaps irrational tariffs on us.

China's in the midst of a long cyclical decline that the government is hiding from the data. There will continue to be some great Chinese companies but you shouldn't put in with China too much.

If you hold some view of a future world with Chinese economic domination, Canada would merely be a commodity depot. This is a problem the Australians know all too well.

I do not see China in decline, but I do not have access to the Chinese economic data, so you may be right.
I think under all circumstances it is foolish of Canada not to develop trade with China and the other BRICS nations. Relying exclusively on USA is not good, as we see these days.

That's just common sense and it's always happening. Don't be fooled by forum members painting pictures of some globe where China and the other BRICs are all getting along trading with each other. China is a predatory trading nation. They are desperately trying to pump up exports. Most of China's trade relations are sourcing for commodities they lack domestically.

Canada's geography (three oceans and the U.S. to the South) means that the U.S. and Canadian economies will be integrated to a great degree.

They are only drifting back to the center because going further doesn't work.

Nice Pivot. For me, 60% of household waste is recycled. 40% goes to landfill. It's the commercial/industrial set that fucks it up for the rest of us.

And since we're pivoting:

PP hitched his wagon to Maple Maga 8 years ago. We're seeing where that leads in real time. There aren't quite as many Sub-80 IQ individuals in Canada as there are in the US yet.
Not a pivot...just an example of why the green scheme is a sham.

I call bs on your 60%. It's more like 10%. You're being played.

The Liberals are done as people realize that they have been fed lies.
You may not agree but perhaps "read the room" in Canada.

I sense much of U.S. recycling is virtue signaling. I'm not an expert on recycling, but I have heard some materials take more energy to recycle than it would be to produce new material.
Then you get into corporate recycling programs that are merely virtue signaling. You know like a program where the company says "made with recycled materials". Perhaps in reality the recycled materials cost more so the company uses only 10% recyclables to project a positive image.

There are businesses here that pay for cardboard and aluminum cans. If I watched the guys who fish these out of trash to make a buck, I guess I could learn a lot from what they leave behind. Plastic? Glass? Basic paper?
On average, about 10% of household material is actually recycled.
Now compare what the benefits are considering what it takes to run a program like that.

It's one of those "feel good" schemes without substance. As long as someone puts the waste in their bin, they're happy saving the planet without realizing they really aren't.

By whom am I being played?

Walker industries handles Niagara's recycling, and reports on it. They are a private business who gets paid more for garbage (because they can't resell it). There's no incentive for them to under-report recycling.

Even in the overall-critical article I posted, they say that household recycling is 60%.

I encourage you to stop getting your news from Social Media clips.

I think he is simply quoting the article. An individual has no idea how much of their materials are being recycled.
I'm guessing the author was fed some stats by the recycling company and then they were repeated here.
