Except for the token members that religious minorities are restricted to, all Candidates MUST be observant Shia Muslims and approved by their expert council. Meanwhile Israel requires you to be a citizens and at least 21 years old. No religious requirement and all voters are free to vote for any party or any candidate.
Even Likud has had Arab MKs and it is quite regular that religious Muslims vote for religious Jewish parties like Shas because they share the same public morality.
