One thing many of you are not taking into consideration is that despite these tariffs impacting both sides, that's not the important part.
The important part is how long each side can withstand the trade war.

Who do you think can outlast the other before one collapses completely?
America is a larger consumer, Doesn't have needed materials and has started a trade war with their top 4 trading partners.

What's your question again?

The problem is there are a lot of pro-Russia and pro-CCP / Xi shills.

Most people can't tell the difference and they cause confusion. But remember, their only purpose is to destroy the west.

Now is the time for the Premiers (with Doug leading) and Justin to join forces and make sure the lunatic in Washington hears us loud and clear!

I do not agree. First, Justin needs to disappear. Trump has a personal vendetta against him. His wife kissed Trudeau like she never did for him.

Second, you cannot change the lunatic in Washington. They do not care about anything that happens to the poor and middle class in America. They do not give a shit about them.

It will need the population of the US to have their words. To fight Trump and his team. And continue to tank Tesla to the ground. Musk needs to be canceled.

Baby steps...we have a PM who resigned and has spent the past few weeks partying in Europe while still speaking in front of the world on our behalf but won't re-open parliament for fear of being torn apart over this past fall's budget disaster where they lied about how large the deficit was.

And despite having ample warning about the US tariffs coming, they still need 21 days to implement the bulk of the retaliatory tariffs??? OMFG

How weak does Canada look these days?

And there's a good chance Companies take the 25% hit and pass it along to customers.

Not a good look when his campaign was about blaming Biden for inflation.

This will heavily depend on China. If Trump pisses off China yeah they will suffer more.

Going up against China, Canada, Mexico, EU and every other nations that hates you? with no prep time? Who you gonna trade with after that?

That's a tough fight.
Well remember when Russia invaded Ukraine and the west immediately imposed sanctions and froze assets, etc...it did nothing and still does nothing to deter them from continuing with the war.

I think the same will happen with the US. Yes they will also suffer in the short term, but countries like Canada and Mexico will crumble in the long run and then be even more dependent on the US.

Canada missed the opportunity during Trump's first term to set the wheels in motion to become more independent. Instead, we focused on DEI and woke virtue-signaling green initiatives and are now in a very vulnerable position.

Maybe Canada can increase the carbon tax to subsidize all the people who will be unemployed soon. Lol!

Remember: the problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Canada can add tariffs immediately, as they showed with their phase 1 package. They don't need 21 days for the second phase, they are being deliberate and giving the US a chance to back down.

The first phase of Canada's response includes tariffs on $30 billion in goods imported from the U.S., effective as of 12:01 a.m., March 4, 2025. The list includes products such as orange juice, peanut butter, wine, spirits, beer, coffee, appliances, apparel, footwear, motorcycles, cosmetics, and certain pulp and paper products.

Minister LeBlanc also announced that, should the U.S. continue to apply unjustified tariffs on Canada, the government intends to impose additional countermeasures on $125 billion in imports from the U.S., drawing from a list of goods open for a 21-day comment period, which would bring the scope of countermeasures to a total of $155 billion worth of products. The list includes products such as electric vehicles, fruits and vegetables, beef, pork, dairy, electronics, steel, aluminum, trucks, and buses.

Russia was propped up by China. And still needed military help from NK.

A 3-week war turned into 3 years with very little ground gained.

The propaganda that Russia will run out of washing machines to cannibalize for parts in their missiles is a bit old, when Russia has armaments quite a bit more advanced than the West.

You need new talking points.
