guaranteeing military support is not towards peace...it's prolonging war. US is bleeding money. Trump is wanting better deal for US for Americans. US is already funding the most in NATO...and no, it's not "Pay me money or something bad will happen to you" that's an ignorant take...
If Zelensky guarantees Trump minerals, why shouldn't he have access to more military support?

This is about security. If there is nothing to enforce laws and agreements, what good are they?

If there was someone who done any negotiations for the last 3 years...they suck at it...LoL
You do know that negotiations about wars are famously difficult, right?
I know there is some kind of "all you need is a strong-dicked man to knock some heads together and say STOP IT! and then it all works out" myth, but that's a thing believed by idiots.

The minerals deal is what Trump wants in return... He can't guarantee peace until he got both parties to talk...
you really think it's better to just fund Ukraine like biden?how did that go?
Look at the EU + Canada pledging = does that look like a peace deal?
So he wanted Zelensky to sign onto a deal giving away half of resource profit for nothing in return?

So you would rather treat the US as a bottomless purse? Of course Trump wants something in return... You really think Trump will go on his first State of the Nation and tell the Americans..." I gave more of your tax money to Ukraine"
LoL
They are probably asking why that unlimited money only goes to Israel. Kind of kills that argument, doesn't it?
Do you think funding genocide is better than funding Ukraine?

Do you want to keep fighting Russia?
Or you want to take them to the Hague? and answer to ICJ, ICC?

So tell me val...what's the best option here? keep the war going? sign the mineral deal and at least see what US can do for you for peace? Trump isn't giving 70% stake on NATO we all know that...he wants EU to cough up as much $$$ as the US...why is that bad?

I didn't know asking for a minerals deal is corruption...

"Of course Trump wants something in return... "

But to be fair, Zelensky's team did negotiate most of Trump's more outrageous demands away, so the deal is vastly less corrupt than Trump wanted.

For it to have teeth, it might have to look like quasi-NATO membership.
Not really.
It has to have enough that Russia thinks it isn't worth its while to engage in adventurism.
Yes, that means other countries saying they would come in and help defend/fuck shit up.

That just doesn't have to be NATO.
In fact, I expect more and more defence alliances to evolve that aren't NATO as Trump works to dismantle NATO as a cohesive unit.

I'm just hoping the Russians can be contained for a few years and we get closer to Putin's death by either natural or unnatural causes.
Most people think any cease fire would be a pause to shore up by Russia, followed by another attack.
I do suppose that a pause that includes Putin dying might short circuit that cycle.

I back rules based governance.

You back rule by force, so you back Israel killing as many as possible because you think they are stronger, you think trump is alpha so back him breaking every law possible, the way that MAGA is cheering for the Tates return. Putin you cheer for because think you are really like him. You are against laws, equal application of laws and equal rights like you are against DEI.

Russia shouldn't invade and occupy Ukraine.
Israel shouldn't invade and occupy Palestine.

What should have stopped those are international treaties like NATO and the UN, but the US has been killing the relevance of those treaties for a year and trump is the final nail in the coffin. Now its a world of big fish eats little fish.

Its looking more and more like the EU, minus Hungary, plus a few other countries. If it happens.

Does anyone know what this mineral deals would actually look like?

Somebody's going to be mining. I was thinking we don't want the Chinese to come into Ukraine with their money. (Well, most of us here don't want that.)
I linked it earlier.
This is what it looked like February 25.

I've put a few sources in.

Oh you're taking it literally...here...."of course Trump wants something in return for the US...that will justify funding Ukraine.... he can't face American Voters with a simple..."we're funding to help Ukraine" there has to be a concession why. To avoid backlash...Trump has to appease Americans...."we have to help our partners" because that's what will happen when Z signs the minerals deal... Zelensky didn't do shit all...LOL...
So what would be your best option? Continue the war? for another tune of $200 USD? will that solve the war? or Sign the deal and see if there's a better option without bloodshed?

You know damn well they can guarantee military support like military presence, military bases, weapons etc.

Trump's mob-style negotiations just don't work. "Pay me money or something bad will happen to you". WTF is this?
It's more "Pay me money and I'll think about talking to my buddy about stopping the invasion. No promises." (at least according to richaceg)

Really.
Interesting negotiating technique you have there.

"Here is our agreement.
If you break it, nothing will happen to you and you can get away with it and I will do nothing."

You must be a devastatingly effective businessman.

LoL...you're making shit up too?
Trump already told Zelensky...sign the deal, make the US your partner and open a line with Putin..or you just don't like the ring to it because it's coming form Trump...if that came from Obama or Biden...they would be a Nobel Peace Prize candidate...LoL
